Lachlan Nieboer (born September 11, 1981) is an English film and television actor. He is best known for playing blind Lieutenant Edward Courtenay in the ITV hit television series Downton Abbey and Slater in the complex psychological thriller Brand New-U.

Lachlan has been a supporter of Blind Veterans UK, formerly known as St Dunstan's. It was while he was researching the role of Lieutenant Courtenay that Lachlan encountered the work of Blind Veterans UK, and he has been an ambassador for the charity ever since. In May 2012, he ran the London Marathon to raise money for the charity. He also supports the Stride Foundation.

Charlie Countryman (Shia LaBeouf) is a normal guy living in Chicago. When his mother, Kate (Melissa Leo), dies, he sees her as a spirit. When he asks her what do to with his life, she tells him to go to Bucharest for adventure. On the flight, he meets Victor (Ion Caramitru), an elderly man returning home from a Cubbies game, with a hat as a gift for his daughter. On 27 April 1940, a Luftwaffe Heinkel He 111 bomber (1H+CT) is shot down near Grotli by a Fleet Air Arm Blackburn Skua (L2940) fighter. Three of the German crew are survivors: pilot Leutnant Horst Schopis (Florian Lukas), Unteroffizier Josef Schwartz (David Kross) and Feldwebel Wolfgang Strunk (Stig Henrik Hoff), set off looking for shelter. Two British survivors from the aircraft that shot them down have also crash-landed near the same location.
