Lee Haxall is an American film and television editor. Haxall won a 1997 CableACE Award for Editing a Comedy/Music Special or Series for Arli$$ and a 2004 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series for the pilot episode of Arrested Development. Haxall has also edited several high-profile motion pictures such as Meet the Fockers, The Dukes of Hazzard, Beerfest, Take Me Home Tonight, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Haxall received an MFA in Cinema Production from the University of Southern California and worked in the sound department on films like Dune and Night of the Demons before moving into film editing.

Comanche Indians have trapped the evil of their land in a monster made up of a mixture of other animals. The Comanche have placed a protective spear in the ground to contain the evil. A young boy pulls the spear from the ground while pocketing a rabbit foot talisman. He starts to play with the spear. A Comanche catches the boy, and startled, he runs away with the rabbit's foot. The Native American places the spear back, realizing too late that the rabbits foot is now gone. After that, white men come and start drilling for oil.

In 1982, young Albert is harassed by bullies. His mother gives him a special magic trick set by veteran magician Rance Holloway as his birthday present. He studies the instructional video and begins to practice some tricks, attracting the attention of a classmate, Anthony. They practice together and eventually become professional magicians Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton, earning them success and an ongoing headlining act at the Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas. However, after ten years of performing the same tricks over and over again, Anton is fed up with Burt's ego, which has already cost them previous female assistants, all called "Nicole" in the act. Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is a middle-aged man who learns that his wife Emily (Julianne Moore) cheated on him with a co-worker, David Lindhagen (Kevin Bacon), and that she wants a divorce. After moving into his own apartment, Cal goes to a bar night after night, talking loudly about his divorce, until he attracts the attention of a young man named Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), a womanizer who beds women each night, although a young woman named Hannah (Emma Stone) recently had rejected his advances. Jacob takes pity on Cal, and offers to teach him how to pick up women. Using Jacob's teachings, Cal seduces Kate (Marisa Tomei) at the bar. Jay Martin is a 13-year-old who is competing for a scholarship with the headmaster's son, rival classmate and potential bully Ronny Van Dusen. The headmaster, Mr. Van Dusen, confiscates Jay's presentation and leaves it lying around his office. Ronny, alone in Mr. Van Dusen's office then copies the presentation. Jay breaks into Ronny's pool house when the Van Dusens are away in order to take his presentation back. However, their show dog, Camille, discovers Jay and follows him home. Camille goes crazy and wrecks the Martin's home when she goes too long without her medication. After Jay spends hours trying to comfort the dog, Camille withstands no more and explodes. Jay's brother, Mike, comes home and finds the house a mess and Camille with a nervous breakdown. After Jay's confession about what happened, and the loss of the dog, the two try to buy time to get the dog back. Mr. Van Dusen agrees to numerous ridiculous acts just to get Camille and his father in law off his back. Reaching his limit he finally calls the police to tap into the calls he usually received from the two boys. Jay and Mike, think up a plan and frames Ronny for the whole thing. In the end, Mr. Van Dusen's father in law becomes the new headmaster of the school while he becomes a secretary, Jay gets the scholarship after the competition is reopened and Ronny is sent to the Military Academy where his instructor is none other than Mike Martin. Two scientists invent a time machine. A critical part (the "vector modulator") falls out of the time machine before they get into it to test it. Nothing seems to happen at first, but when they wake up the next day they are regressing in age (mentally, not physically). Their kids, Marie (Raquel Lee) and Eddie (Tahj Mowry) seem to notice something strange is going on, judging by their behavior. Soon enough, the children realize that it is the machine that has changed their parents. The parents gradually get younger and the kids notice that the fish that their parents were experimenting on earlier seemed to just disappear after growing younger in a "poof" of sorts. The point at which something ceases to exist thus becomes known as the "poof point". The kids know they have to get the parents in the machine and reverse the effect some way before their parents, too, just "poof" away.
