Manuela Viegas (13 October 1957) is a Portuguese film editor and director. Is considered to be part of The School of Reis film tradition.

An influential film editor since the 1970s, she has edited dozens of films, among them Pedro Costa's Blood, Joaquim Sapinho's The Policewoman or João César Monteiro's Silvestre and À Flor da Pele. In 1999, she directed her first and only feature film until today, Gloria, which was part of the official competition of the 49th Berlin International Film Festival, being the only Portuguese film to ever do so until Tabu was selected in 2012.

She is nowadays a professor of film editing at the Portuguese National Film School.

Gloria is set against the backdrop of a rural landscape slowly disappearing in modern Portugal. The small border town of Vila de Santiago, once a booming trade center for illegal trafficking, is about to become a ghost town, as a new motorway is to bypass the city and the railway station is being closed. Its stationmaster, Vincente, is preparing to retire. Many young people have moved out, leaving the children to be brought up by the elderly, including thirteen-year-old Glória and her friend Ivan. Glória's life suddenly changes with the arrival of Vincente's younger brother, Mauro, who has just come out of prison and has some old issues to settle. Mauro begins to charge around the station on his motorbike, while Glória's friendship with Ivan is put to test on account of her attraction to older Mauro.

Une maison française d'éditions délègue à Lisbonne l'un de ses experts, Jean Decaux, dans le but de mettre la main sur des documents inédits du défunt Jeffrey Aspern, célèbre romancier des années 1930. Les éditeurs croient savoir que ces papiers seraient détenus par Juliana Barther, la maîtresse d'Aspern, dans la maison de laquelle l'écrivain est mort. Usant de subterfuges, Jean convainc Juliana de lui louer une chambre. Celle-ci vit recluse avec sa nièce Tita, une austère vieille fille. Jean noue pourtant des liens amicaux avec cette dernière, lui dévoile la raison de sa présence et obtient son aide dans ses investigations. Mais, après avoir été surpris par Juliana alors qu'il était en train de fouiller dans ses affaires, il quitte la maison afin que le temps apaise l'évènement. Lorsqu'il revient, Tita lui apprend que Juliana est morte et qu'elle est en possession des fameux manuscrits. Elle lui propose alors un étrange marché : en échange des papiers tant convoités, elle veut connaître le bonheur en devenant sa femme. Devant son refus, elle brûle immédiatement tous les manuscrits.
