Martina Amati (born 14 May 1969) is an Italian BAFTA winning filmmaker. Her work often features scenes underwater.

Biography

Amati trained at the Brera Academy in Milan and was immediately picked upon graduation by MTV Europe to work in the UK. She directed hundreds of MTV promos and idents and was part of the original London based team that created and launched MTV Italy, leaving immediately after the regionalization of the channel. Amati moved into drama in 2008. With her three short films she won the BAFTA (I Do Air), the BAFTA L/A Certificate of Excellence (A' Mare), and received another BAFTA nomination for Chalk, which also won the BIFA among a number of other International Awards. Amati’s work has premiered at Sundance Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, and London Film Festival and has screened around the world among the international circuit.

Martina lives in London with her husband Charles Steel.
