Mathilde Nielsen (26 October, 1858 – 11 September, 1945) was a Danish actress in the theatre and in Danish cinema. She was known as a figure of matriarchy in Danish film.
D'abord comédienne de théâtre, elle commence sa carrière au cinéma en 1909 dans un court métrage, à l'âge de 51 ans. Elle tourne dans 31 films. Elle achève sa carrière à 83 ans en jouant dans Tyrannens fald de Jon Iversen et Alice O'Fredericks (1942).
Elle est notamment connue pour avoir représenté une figure marquante du matriarcat dans le cinéma danois, en particulier dans les films de Carl Theodor Dreyer. Son interprétation de la vieille nourrice dans Le Maître du logis reste marquante.
C'est seulement en fin de carrière qu'elle obtient un premier rôle dans Tante Cramers testamente de Arne Weel (1941).

Mathilde Nielsen, épouse d'Olaf Frederik Nielsen (1849-1902), est la sœur des acteurs Sophus et Victor Neumann et la mère de la chanteuse d'opéra Ellen Nielsen (1890-1968).D'abord comédienne de théâtre, elle commence sa carrière au cinéma en 1909 dans un court métrage, à l'âge de 51 ans. A rich man bets 1 million, with his son, that the "simple" choir-girl Aurora and the son, can stay together for a month, without any arguments whatsoever. La veille du Nouvel An, le meurtrier Strong Henry s'évade de prison et va chercher son fils à l'orphelinat.
