Michela Belmonte (1925–1978) was an Italian film actress. She was the younger sister of the actress Maria Denis, and briefly enjoyed a career as a leading lady during the Fascist era appearing in major films such as Roberto Rossellini's A Pilot Returns. Following the overthrow of Benito Mussolini's regime in 1943, she retired from acting.

Le film décrit les relations de trois amis inséparables, Marco, Mario et Filippo, élèves de l'Accademia Aeronautica de Caserte. Marco rencontre Adriana, sœur de Mario. Celui-ci s'oppose à leur idylle car Marco est un « cavaleur ». Après les examens, les chemins des trois amis se séparent puis se retrouvent comme pilotes sur le front de l'Est avec diverses vicissitudes et faits de bravoure. Après la guerre, les trois pilotes se retrouvent et Mario, rassuré par le comportement de Marco au combat, ne s'oppose plus à l'idylle de celui-ci avec sa sœur Adriana.

During the 1940 Italian invasion of Greece, an Italian pilot is shot down and captured by British forces who place him in a prisoner-of-war camp. While there he meets and falls in love with a young Italian woman who has volunteered to care for the prisoners. After escaping from the British, he manages to steal a plane and return to Italy for further duty. On his arrival he learns that Greece has fallen.
