Morshedul Islam (Born: December 1, 1958) is a renowned film director of Bangladesh. He is a successful figure in the film industry of Bangladesh and also attached with independent filmmaking.

Biography

Morshedul Islam was born in 1 December 1958 in Dhaka. He had his B. Pharm (Hon’s) and M. Pharm degree from Dhaka University. He introduced himself as a filmmaker in 1984 with the short film “Agami” while he was a student. With the film “Agami”, there started a short film revolution in Bangladesh, which is known as ‘Alternate Film Movement’ later. “Nouka O Jibon”, “Shuchona”, “Chaka”, “Dipu Number Two”, “Dukai”, “Brishty”, “Shorot 71”, “Durotto”, “Khelaghor” are some of the famous films made by him. He and his films took part in more than 40 international film festivals in different countries of Asia, Europe and America till now. His recent film "Priyotomeshu" is the first film in Bangladesh to get censor certificate in DV format. it was screened in various cinema's across Bangladesh in DVD using hidef multimeida projectors. his latest work AMAR BONDHU RASHED released in March 15, 2011 based on the book of the same name by Muhammed Zafar Iqbal.

This a story of a boy named Ibu during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He lives in a small town. The main character Rashed suddenly appears at his school. Rashed, the name was given by the class teacher at the first day at school. In 1971, when other students are not conscious about the liberation movement Rashed could understand the matters. Rashed started to motivate others to make understand those matters. One day, Pakistani army attacks the town and Rashed observes the battle. He and his friends starts to help Muktibahini. A member of Muktibahini they know,named Shafiq, gets caught at battle. Rashed and his friends takes him out from death. One day, Rashed and his friends get detached from each other. Ibu and his family leaves the town for a safe place over the border. But, Rashed stays and gets involved with the war. The friends meet again after the war is over. But, Rashed was martyred at the war. This is a story of a young gun of bangladesh which reflects our fearless martyr's courage at liberation war.And still a motivation for our young generation.

Dipu (Arun Saha), a boy of about twelve years lives with his father (Bulbul Ahmed ). Dipu’s father is a government officer and because of his transferable job, they arrive at a picturesque town. Dipu immediately develops a liking to this new town and his new school. He makes a lot of friends but starts a feud with the school bully Tarique (Shubhashish) on the very first day. Tarique, unable to intimidate Dipu tries many tricks on him and even beats him up one day. Though Dipu does not complain this to anybody, instead he contemplates to punish Tarique himself. But one day a small adventure atop a high water tank changes his feelings towards Tarique.
