Lee Jin-ki (born December 14, 1989), better known by his stage name Onew, is a South Korean singer, actor, dancer and presenter. He is the leader of the South Korean boy group Shinee.

Biography

Onew graduated from the Gwangmyeong Information Industry High School. In his senior year in high school, Onew had ranked as the second top student in his grade. He is currently attending Chungwoon University, his major being broadcasting music.

Onew underwent a vocal cord polyp removal and vocal fold mucosa reconstruction operation in june 2014, which made him unable to sing for few months. Kim Yeon Woo, a friend of Onew as well as his vocal coach revealed during the December 17 broadcast of MBC FM4U’s FM Date radio that Onew's voice got better after the vocal cords surgery. He also said that Onew's vocal range "improved and he can make sounds comfortably too".
