Biography
Oscar Levant s'installe en 1922 à New York, avec sa mère, Annie, juste après le décès de son père, Max. Il fut marié avec l'actrice Barbara Woodell. Il se marie en secondes noces avec l'actrice et chanteuse June Gale en 1939, et restera marié avec elle jusqu'à sa mort. Il eut trois enfants de son second mariage, Marcia, Lorna et Amanda. Il meurt à 65 ans d'une crise cardiaque et repose au Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery de Los Angeles. Il était hypocondriaque. Son épouse est décédée en 1996.Best films

Elvira Kent (Janis Paige) and her husband Michael (Don DeFore) suspect each other of cheating. For their wedding anniversary, Elvira books an ocean cruise to Rio de Janeiro but her husband claims that unexpected business will prevent him from going. Chuck Arnold (Dan Dailey) is a bandleader during the 1920s. He meets hometown girl Peggy Mayhew (Jeanne Crain), a flapper script girl, at one of the band's presentations and the next day they get married. Though she loves him, life on the road becomes increasingly difficult for her, and eventually, with the rise of the Great Depression, in 1929, she tires of it and returns to her country home. Unable to find new bookings, he soon joins her and brings with him Oscar Hoffman (Oscar Levant) his acerbic, cynical manager. The bandleader finds the pastoral life a crashing bore and so heads for the big city to find fortune. Fortunately, this time, he succeeds and happiness is the result.

In New York City, a performance by noted violinist Paul Boray (John Garfield) is cancelled. At his apartment, Boray is at rock bottom emotionally. Later that night, Oliver thanks Bob for his loyalty and offers him a contract for $50 a week for three years.
