Penelope Sudrow (born 1966) is an American actress who has starred in film and on television. She is perhaps best known for her role in the 1987 horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors as Jennifer Caulfield. Her character is killed by Freddy Krueger as she is watching television. Just before Freddy slams her head into the television set, he says "This is it, Jennifer: your big break in TV. Welcome to prime time, bitch!!"

Sudrow was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Her father, Lyle Sudrow, was the original star of the Guiding Light soap opera, in New York, both in radio and on live television for a total of eleven years. He played 'Bill Bauer' on the show, as well as performing in hundreds of radio shows also in New York in the 1940s and 50s.

Her mother, born of Swedish nobility, was a professional dancer also in the 50s in New York who headlined at the Copacabana for several years and was also a June Taylor dancer on the Jackie Gleason Show.

Following in her mother's foot-steps, Penelope started dancing at age three, and made her stage debut at the Hollywood Bowl at the age of five, headlining as 'Twiggy' in a Musical Review of the '20's for A.N.T.A., a performing arts school for children in Studio City.

She did her first commercial, for Oscar Myer Wiener, at age six. At ten, she was asked to join the Danny Daniels Dance America Tap company. As the only child member of the group and their featured soloist, she toured the Western United States with the Co. in 1976 at the age of 10.

This was followed by performances on many television variety shows in the 70s, including The Rich Little Show, Shields & Yarnell, The John Denver Show, and The Gene Kelly Special, "An American In Pasadena".

Sudrow continued to work in television and film until the early 1990s.

The film is set against the strict social hierarchy of an American public high school. Working class misfits Keith Nelson (Eric Stoltz) and the defensively tomboyish Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) are good friends. But when Keith asks out the most popular girl in school, Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson), Watts realizes her feelings for him are much deeper. Meanwhile, Hardy Jenns (Craig Sheffer), Amanda's Corvette-driving spoiled ex-boyfriend from the rich end of town, plots trouble for Keith by inviting him and Amanda to a party after the date. Elsewhere, Amanda is cut dead by her friends. Keith finds out about the plot, believing Amanda to be party to it, but goes ahead with the date anyway, spending money saved for college and roping in Watts (as chauffeur) to help make the date special. At Jenns's party, the timely arrival of other "misfits" saves Keith from being beaten up. Keith tells Jenns he is "over" and Amanda slaps Jenns's face. In the end, Amanda decides that she needs to learn to stand on her own. Keith catches up to Watts and they kiss and walk on together.

In this fact-based adolescent melodrama, Joe Fisk is a juvenile delinquent who falls in love with Lisa Taylor, a beautiful Catholic girl's school student, in an Oregon forest. The two meet by accident when the troubled young man stumbles upon her while being chased by his peers in a training exercise, and sees the lovely girl floating in a small lake as she works on a photography assignment, recreating the Pre-Raphaelite painting Ophelia by John Everett Millais. The two are immediately drawn to each other, but neither of their custodians encourage contact with the opposite sex, and when their relationship is discovered there is trouble all around, forcing the young lovers to flee. The question then remains: Will they be able to escape the law and other authorities long enough to find happiness?

As the film opens, a child pornography shoot is disrupted when its young star Michelle refuses to perform, throwing a tantrum over a promised visit to the zoo. The man who recruited her, pedophile Howard "Howie" Nichols (Masur), attempts to reason with director Dennis, claiming he "just needs a few days" (in order for Michelle to have an abortion, as Howard had gotten her pregnant). However, Dennis has already made up his mind to dump Michelle and gives Howard an ultimatum: find a more cooperative young "star" or he'll blow the whistle on the operation and disappear, leaving Howard to take the rap. Faced with this threat, Howard agrees to begin searching for a new girl to take Michelle's place. 12-year-old Jennifer Phillips (Hill), a recent elementary school graduate and aspiring gymnast fits the mold perfectly. She was voted "Most Shy" in her class, her father was recently killed in a robbery of his catering truck, she feels unable to communicate with her mother Sherry (Dillon), and she cannot accept her mother's new boyfriend (who was also her father's co-worker), Frank Dawson (Cox).
