Richard Albrecht (born 1950 in Manchester, Lancashire, England) is an actor, writer, producer and director. His work include all facets of British theatrical life. Theatre, film, television, commercials, corporates, voice-over and narration.

Trained at the E15 Acting School (1967–70) then went into repertory theatre at Oldham, Lincoln, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leicester, Greenwich, Colchester, Salisbury and Cheltenham. Touring theatre with Pentabus, Bristol Express, Monstrous Regiment, Shared Experience. Fringe Theatre with the Combination, Soho Poly, Traverse, Young Vic, Stratford East, a one-man show 'RIP Maria Callas' at the Edinburgh Festival. West End 'Happy as a Sandbag'.
Richard appeared at the Royal Court Theatre in 'Ashes and Sand' and 'My Child'.
TV's include 'Coronation Street', 'EastEnders', 'Casualty', 'The Bill', 'King Lear', 'Threads', 'Doctors', 'Poirot', Heartbeat', 'Where The Heart is' and 'Holby City.

Films include 'Jude', 'The Man Who Cried' and the recently completed 'The Glasshouse'. Voice work includes narrating 'Wainwright-the Man Who Loved the Lakes', 17 episodes of 'Extraordinary Animals' and the kids cartoon/film of 'Badly Drawn Roy'. Fegele Abramovich (Christina Ricci), a Russian Jew is separated from her father (Oleg Yankovsky) as a child in 1927. Her father has travelled to America to seek his fortune and plans to send for Fegele and her grandmother. Before leaving, he sings "Je Crois Entendre Encore" from the Bizet opera Les pêcheurs de perles to her. After her father leaves, the village is attacked and burned in a pogrom. Fegele escapes with the help of neighbours; after many obstacles, she is crowded onto a boat headed for Britain, with only a photo of her father and a coin given to her by her grandmother.

In the Victorian period, Jude Fawley (Eccleston) is a bright young lower-class man who dreams of a university education. Circumstances conspire against him, and he is forced into a job as a stonemason and an unhappy marriage to a country girl, Arabella (Griffiths). He remains true to his dream and, months later, after his wife's sudden departure, he heads for the city. He thinks education is available for any man who is willing to work hard. There he encounters his cousin, Sue Bridehead (Winslet), who is beautiful and intelligent, and shares his disdain for convention. Whilst Jude is enraptured by Sue, she decides to marry Jude's former school teacher, Phillotson (Cunningham), after Jude tells her he is married to Arabella. Meanwhile, Jude is rejected for the university based primarily on his lower-class status.

Young Sheffield residents Ruth Beckett (Karen Meagher) and Jimmy Kemp (Reece Dinsdale) decide to marry due to an unplanned pregnancy. Meanwhile, as tensions between the US and the Soviet Union over Iran escalate, the Home Office directs Sheffield City Council to assemble an emergency operations team, which establishes itself in a makeshift bomb shelter in the basement of the Town Hall. After an ignored US ultimatum to the Soviets results in a brief tactical nuclear skirmish, Britain is gripped by fear, with looting and rioting erupting. "Known subversives" (including peace activists and some trade unionists) are arrested and interned under the Emergency Powers Act.
