Stan and Ollie are musicians, travelling by train to their next gig in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, a very popular vaudeville performance location at the time. Ollie is annoyed that Stan left the music behind. They spend most of the trip trying to change into pajamas and get comfortable in a cramped upper berth. They antagonize a very short man (Sammy Brooks) by sitting on him. By entering a private car looking for their berth and frightening a woman who is dressing for bed, they anger her husband who, coming out & seeing a man who had nothing to do with the intrusion, rips his coat. The man, seeing another innocent man, proceeds to tear up this man's clothes off-screen. By the time Laurel & Hardy manage to sort themselves out, the train has reached their stop, and in their hurry to get off, they leave their musical instruments behind. The clothes tearing battle has, by now, involved the whole train, and the conductor manages to get stripped to his underwear and some rags trying to get through. Hardy closes the film by furiously chasing Laurel and throwing a large rock at him.

« June... Month of weedings, single men on the run. » Mary ayant regardé les répétitions du mariage de sa grande sœur, cette dernière joue avec ses camarades « à la mariée ». Non loin de là, un dresseur de puces officie sur le trottoir. Malheureusement, la vedette de son spectacle s’est échappée et les Petites Canailles se mettent à sa recherche contre une récompense d’un dollar. Le chien de la bande renversant son présentoir, kidnappe tous ses pensionnaires. Toute l’histoire se déroule autour de cette chasse aux puces et se termine à la noce de la grande sœur où bien sûr nos petites canailles accompagnées de leur chien ont apporté tous ces hôtes indésirables qui vont semer la pagaille durant la cérémonie.

La fiancée de Charley exige, pour l'épouser, qu'il joue le rôle de Roméo dans une pièce où elle incarne Juliette. Le jour du spectacle, Charley enfile un costume d'époque avec des collants, dans lequel il glisse des éponges pour renforcer ses jambes un peu trop fines. Il est retardé par un chauffeur de taxi qui exige le paiement de 40 dollars de la part de son beau-père, avec qui il est obligé de s’enfuir. Poursuivi par un policier et par le chauffeur de taxi, Charley traverse une pelouse dont l'arrosage automatique fait gonfler les éponges et le rend grotesque. Il finit par arriver au théâtre au moment de la scène du balcon. Ses maladresses et les apparitions du policier font rire le public et ce spectacle si mal parti remporte un succès triomphal.

Charley a inventé un piège à souris « humain » et décrit à son amie, une serveuse de restaurant, leur vie future lorsque la vente de cette invention l'aura rendu riche. Mais lorsqu'il expérimente son prototype devant un financier, la souris refuse d'aller vers le bout de fromage qui doit l'attirer jusqu'au piège et celui-ci ne se déclenche pas. Charley avoue son échec à la serveuse, qui part alors au bras d'un autre client du bar. Désespéré, le pauvre inventeur enjambe le parapet d'un pont, mais un autre financier le retient, compatissant. Charley lui présente alors son piège : cette fois-ci, la souris va bien vers le morceau de fromage, relié par un fil à une boîte dont surgit alors une marionnette grotesque. Charley explique que le piège ne tue pas la souris, mais lui donne honte et l'incite à ne jamais revenir. Accablé par l'absurdité de l'invention, le financier, d'un coup de canne, pousse Charley par-dessus le pont.
