In a small town in southern Italy there is the family Di Gennaro. Gennaro, the householder, is a noted dentist, married to Anna, a housewife, a few years converted to Buddhism. Fabio Leone and Paolo Pecora are two police officers of Rome which, together with the careless Neapolitan Ciro Marmotta, are fired from the barracks to have scuppered the plan to capture a secret agent. L'action se déroule en 1950 dans une ferme abandonnée de la compagne de Romagne.
