Shirley Kwan, Kwan Suk'E, or Kwan Suk Yee (simplified Chinese: 关淑怡; traditional Chinese: 關淑怡; pinyin: Guān Shúyí, born 15 August 1966) is an influential Cantopop singer from Hong Kong. She first shot to fame in 1989 as a pop sensation with the hit, "Happy Are Those In Love" and was popular throughout the early to mid-90s. She is noted for her distinct, breathy vocal style, and known equally for singing ballads and for more alternative pop fare.

Biography

In 2002, Kwan gave birth to a son. Despite rumors involving Eric Tsang as the father, Kwan has never disclosed the true paternity of her child.

Using Facebook as a communicative tool, Kwan posted an suicidal message in September 2012. She was incommunicado for roughly thirty-six hours before contacting her younger sister to confirm her safety.
