Esparza was born in Los Angeles, California; the daughter of award-winning film producer Moctesuma Esparza, a first-generation Chicano Mexican-American, and her mother is a Yaqui Native American. She starred in 5 episodes of George Lopez as the character, Marisol. Tonantzin Esparza has assisted in make-up artistry for films "Butter" and "Selena".
