Utthara Unni is a film actress from Kerala, South India, who made her debut in the movie Vavwal Passanga in 2012. She appeared in Lenin Rajendran’s film Edavapathi, in a lead role with Manisha Koirala.
She started modeling at the age of 16, for clients including Bhima Jewelers, Sri Kumarans Thanga Malikai and Emmanuval Silks. Her film debut was in 2012, with the movie Vavwal Passanga. She later worked in the Malayalam film industry with the film Edavapathi, alongside the Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala in the lead role. She was originally cast for a role in the film Yaan, but was later dropped.
She was a brand ambassador for the company Team Solar, prior to revelations about the company's role in the 2013 Kerala solar panel scam. Although she had no prior knowledge of the scam, she later said that the controversy had been good for her career.
She graduated with a BSc in Visual Communication from SRM University, and went on to receive an MA in Communications from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Bharata Natyam at SASTRA University.

Utthara Unni was born to A.R Unni and the film actress Urmila Unni. Former Malayalam actress Samyuktha Varma and actor Biju Menon are also members of her family.She started modeling at the age of 16, for clients including Bhima Jewelers, Sri Kumarans Thanga Malikai and Emmanuval Silks.
