The sequel takes places a couple of months after the events of the first film, and follows the story of Niko, who must deal with his mother Oona getting re-married and thus, he gains a stepbrother named Jonni, whom Niko hates at first. However, when Jonni gets kidnapped by eagles, Niko flies off to rescue him. During his journey in saving his little stepbrother, Niko is joined by an old, near-blind reindeer named Tobias, who is revealed to be the former leader of Santa's Flying Forces. However, standing in Niko's way is also White Wolf, Black Wolf's younger sister, who is the leader of the eagles and wants revenge on Niko for her brother's death. Now, Niko and the rest of the team must come up with a plan to save Jonni, defeat White Wolf and return home.

In "Andalasia", an animated fairy tale world devoid of problems, in which there are talking animals and "happy endings", Queen Narissa frets that her stepson Prince Edward will soon find his true love, which means that Narissa's position on the throne would be taken over. One day, Edward and Nathaniel, Queen Narissa's henchmen, successfully capture a troll, but Edward rides off to the cottage of a girl named Giselle after hearing her sing about "true love". Aboard their boat, a yellow bear and a purple horse look after the baby animals known as the Care Bear Cubs and Care Bear Cousin Cubs. On the way, a red sea serpent threatens them—one of the many forms of Dark Heart, an evil spirit. They escape by following a rainbow up to the sky, while the boat transforms into the Cloud Clipper.
