William “Billy” Costello (February 2, 1898 – October 9, 1971), a.k.a. "Red Pepper Sam", was an American live and voice actor, and the original voice of Popeye the Sailor in animated cartoons.
Costello had worked with the Fleischer Studio as the voice of Gus the Gorilla on the Betty Boop radio show and they felt that the raspy voice he had used for that character would work for the new Popeye character they were planning. He was cast to provide the voice for the first Popeye cartoon, 1933's Popeye the Sailor. Costello appeared in the next 24 Popeye shorts until he was fired by the Fleischers, allegedly over "bad behavior," and was replaced with Jack Mercer. Costello's final appearance was in You Gotta Be A Football Hero (1935).
Costello died in San Jose, California, on October 9, 1971. He was buried in Mariposa, California.

Le Death Rides the Range occidental de Ken Maynard, par ailleurs standard, se distingue quelque peu par une orientation d'actualité. L'intrigue concerne un groupe d'espions d'un pays étranger sans nom (bon sang, ils sonnent certainement allemands) qui se dirigent vers l'ouest pour saper le moral des Américains. Dans ce malaise erre Maynard, soi-disant cowpoke sans racine mais en réalité un agent du FBI. Les choses commencent à se réchauffer lorsque les méchants revendiquent un puits d'hélium sur la propriété de l'héroïne Fay McKenzie. Le moment le plus idiot du film se produit à mi-chemin, lorsque le méchant en chef Charlie King commence à battre tout le monde à bout de bras, sans aucune égratignure sur sa propre personne.

Unlike other Alamo films that concentrate on Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, the main protagonists are Almaron (Bruce Warren) and Susanna Dickinson (Ruth Findlay) and their daughter Angelina (Marilyn Haslett). The cartoon begins with two anthropomorphic flapper cats singing "Crazy Town". Chef Bimbo waits on a hungry gorilla and then goes to the kitchen to prepare the order, roast duck. When he is about to bring it to the gorilla's table, he sees Betty Boop performing on stage and falls in love at first sight. He forgets about the hungry gorilla and dances on stage with the duck. The gorilla, furious, goes after Bimbo, who escapes on a wooden train.
