William Edward Flannery is a Production Design American born on 17 november 1898 at Ohio (USA)
William Edward Flannery (November 17, 1898 – January 25, 1959) was an American art director and architect for William Randolph Hearst. He won an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the film Picnic.
As an architect his projects included a beachside mansion for Hearst's girlfriend Marion Davies. The main mansion was demolished, but part of the property survives as the Annenberg Community Beach House.
Flannery married silent film actress Mary Mercedes Campbell and they had a son Patrick John, born in 1927.
During the Great Depression he became an art director.

A stripper runs out onto a Los Angeles street in the Little Tokyo district, in a state of undress, mortally wounded by a gunshot. Police detectives Joe Kojaku and Charlie Bancroft, partners and bachelors who share an apartment, are assigned to the case. They find portraits of the stripper, known as Sugar Torch, dressed in a kimono as a geisha, apparently preparing a Japanese-themed act.

The Stooges meet up with eccentric Professor A.K. Rimple (Benny Rubin) and his daughter (Doreen Woodbury) who ask the trio to help them with a space mission. The mission lands on the planet Sunev (Venus spelled backwards), where the Stooges are taken in by three attractive female aliens. At first, sparks fly (literally) when the girls kiss the boys. But then the ladies turn cannibalistic, and are about the suck the Stooges' blood. However, the boys are able to escape, as a huge lizard appears on the horizon, causing the women to run away. The three jump back in the rocket ship, knocking the Professor and his daughter out cold, and fly back to Earth. They are then shown relating the story of their adventure to an assembled group. When they finish, the "Liars Club" presents them with the award for being the biggest liars in the world.

Hal Carter (William Holden) is a former college football star, adrift and unemployed after army service and a failed Hollywood acting career. On Labor Day (September 5, 1955), he arrives by freight train in a Kansas town to visit his fraternity friend, Alan Benson (Cliff Robertson), the son of a wealthy grain elevator owner, Mr. Benson (Raymond Bailey). A young man in sits in prison on the night before his execution, while his girlfriend waits for the inevitable in the prison governor's house. The governor and his wife sympathize with both of them. It is the first use of the electric chair in the state, and there are teething problems with its installation. Meanwhile a group of reporters discussing the case, realize that the M.O. of the crime bears a similar style to that of a criminal, "Parrot" Farucco, who was supposed to have died three years previously. As the execution takes place off camera, a prison orderly collecting mail in the cafe identifies a customer as Farucco. He confronts him and is shot by the criminal, who is subdued and tied by other customers who happen to be prison officers waiting to begin work.
