Yolanda Vazquez is a film, television and theatre actress best known for appearing in the film The Air Up There. More recently, she had a cameo in the well-received British indie science fiction thriller, Children of Men. Recently Vazquez has appeared in productions of Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream (for the Royal Shakespeare Company) and Much Ado About Nothing.

Notable TV appearances include the part of Maria in "The Final Cut", the third series in the House of Cards trilogy of television dramas. She was also in Midsomer Murders' 2001 episode, Who Killed Cock Robin?, where she played a Spanish riding instructor. In 1993 she appeared as lounge singer Lola in an episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot.

Because of similar first names, she has sometimes been confused on the Web with Yolande Palfrey, although the two actresses were born in different countries at different times and have never resembled each other.

In 2027, after 18 years of global human infertility, civilization is on the brink of collapse as humanity faces extinction. The tale follows the history of Mary Boleyn (Natascha McElhone), sister of Anne Boleyn (Jodhi May), second wife of Henry VIII (Jared Harris). Before his relationship with Anne, Henry favoured her sister Mary, who was by then married to her first husband, William Carey, and a lady in waiting to his wife, Queen Catherine of Aragon. Despite her objections, Mary is forced to become the king's mistress, with her husband's reluctant permission and agreement. Mary asks her husband if she's offended him, and he claims that she hasn't, although Mary despairs that William did not object to the illicit union with the king. In time, Mary confesses what she has done to God, and feel guilty whenever she serves the queen, for the queen knows about the relationship, yet says nothing. Mary soon comes to terms with being the king's mistress, however, and begins to fall in love with the king.

Jimmy Dolan (Kevin Bacon) is a college basketball assistant coach who wants to find a new star for his team since he believes this will get him a promotion to head coach at the school. He sees a home video of a prospect named Saleh and travels to Africa to recruit him. Upon arriving in this continent, Dolan finds himself confronted not only with the challenges of basketball but also with the challenges of adjusting to and learning how to live in the midst of a brand-new culture. Though Dolan is initially opposed by Saleh's father who is also the leader of the village, he later agrees to let his son play. Dolan and Saleh both teach each other life lessons before they take the court for one final game with everything on the line.
