Synopsis
Le jeune chirurgien Kristian Keller est un médecin idéaliste. Depuis longtemps, il est dégoûté par l'égoïsme et de la cupidité de nombreux collègues qui ne veulent plus aider les malades, comme son chef de service, le professeur Gaspardi, aussi satisfait de lui que vaniteux et autoritaire, et avec qui il est souvent en conflit. Plus d'une fois les deux hommes s'affrontent et Gaspardi ne manque pas de rappeler qui est le chef et qui est le subordonné. Par ailleurs, Keller a une liaison avec Detta, la jeune épouse du professeur. Elle est de plus en plus dégoûtée par le comportement et de la vanité de son mari et elle vit son mariage comme un échec depuis longtemps. Un jour, Keller quitte la clinique car il a la sensation d'être dans une impasse. Il va à Hong Kong pour y commencer une nouvelle carrière médicale. Comme convenu, Detta le rejoindra.Actors

Dans le service de maternité du Dr Peter Heidt, la docteur Elisabeth Keller et l'infirmière Hedwig sont confrontées chaque jour à de nouveaux destins de femme. Comme Else Koschitzky qui vient d'accoucher de sa troisième fille dans le monde, pleure tous les jours pendant l'allaitement, son mari est tellement déçu par l'absence de fils qu'il ne veut pas se rendre à son chevet. Josepha Spratt, deux fois veuve, a mis un enfant au monde, mais n'ose pas le dire à son fils adulte de son premier mariage. Le jeune Christine rejette son enfant à naître, car elle a été abandonnée par son petit ami tandis que la chanteuse Inge Jolander craint non seulement pour son apparence, mais aussi pour sa voix. Et la journaliste sportive Grit Harlacher apprend finalement qu'elle aura des jumeaux. Peter, Elizabeth et Hedwig peuvent résoudre tous ces problèmes : avec les mots, ils mettent fin aux soucis superficiels. Et Christine trouve chez le jardinier de la clinique un nouveau petit ami.

The film shows Bismarck being dismissed by Wilhelm II of Germany and the dilettantes who surround him. An unscrupulous schemer plays on the king's desire to lead and so persuades him to the dismissal. At a convent in Austria in the 1930s, a spirited novice named Maria (Ruth Leuwerik) is sent by her mother superior to the estate of a widowed naval hero, Baron von Trapp (Hans Holt), to look after his seven unruly children. The baron is a stern disciplinarian and runs his household like a ship. When Maria arrives, she encourages the children to play games like other youngsters, and teaches them how to sing.
