The film consists of three stories. The first is about a girl who calling a radio station for advice and comfort after her boyfriend died in a tragic incident. One of the DJs insensitively suggests that she should commit suicide to join her boyfriend. She heeds his suggestion and the DJ feels guilty when her ghost returns to haunt him. The second story is about a group of friends on a sea voyage who encounter strange events after they rescue a mysterious woman from a boat wreckage. The third story is about another DJ who quits his job after the untimely deaths of his colleagues. He becomes a street racer and stumbles upon a sinister spirit on the road.

Wong Fei-hung, Clubfoot and "13th Aunt" cross the Pacific Ocean to America to visit Bucktooth So, who has opened a Po-chi-lam clinic there. While traveling by carriage through the wilderness, they pick up a friendly cowboy named Billy, who is almost dying of thirst. When the party stops to have lunch, a bunch of hostile Native Americans ambush them. Wong, Clubfoot and 13th Aunt escape unharmed but their carriage slides off a cliff and falls into a river. 13th Aunt and Clubfoot are rescued and taken to Bucktooth So's clinic. However, Wong hits his head on a rock and loses his memory as a consequence. He is saved by a Native American tribe.

On a rainy night in Shenzhen, a female prostitute named Sze-kam Oi-yee was strangled to death by female wanted criminal Yip Siu-ngan in order to assume her identity. Ngan poses as Yee and passes the customs and successfully arrives in Hong Kong. After reporting the loss of her ID card, she successfully obtains Yee's identity. Yee has a Hong Kong ID because her husband is a Hong Kong resident, who at the time was waiting for his wife's arrival.

Tsui Chik (or Simon in the US version) tries to lead a quiet life as a librarian. However, he is really a former test subject for a highly secretive supersoldier project and the instructor of a special commando unit dubbed "701". The 701 squad is used for many government missions, but after one of the agents kills a team of policemen in an uncontrollable rage, the government decides to abort the project and eliminate all the subjects. Tsui Chik helped the surviving 701 agents flee the extermination attempt. Having escaped, Tsui Chik went separate ways from his team and lived in Hong Kong. Later at night he discovers that the rest of the team were responsible for a violent crime spree that was beyond the capability of the local police. He sets out to get rid of them, donning a mask and hat using the superhero alias of The Black Mask. Having lost the ability to feel pain due to the surgery performed on the super-soldiers by the military, Black Mask is almost invulnerable.

Joe (Andy Lau) is a youth that loves auto racing. His father Paul (Paul Chun) operates a motorbike business which often organizes motorbike teams to race in Macau and Japan and his racers would often be awarded the crown bike. However, Joe has been rumored to be the best among the racers because every crown bike is always defeated in hands of Joe on the streets. Since Joe's license has been revoked for speeding at the age of 19, he is unable to participate in an official race and can only secretly race in the streets to fulfill his desire of racing on the roads. Joe's father is very irritated about this and views his son as an outlaw biker so he prohibits his racers to race with Joe which sours their father and son relationship. Joe owns an auto repair shop with his friend Jimmy (Chin Ka-lok). Joe's girlfriend Annie (Gigi Leung) is very gentle and kind but she always worries about her boyfriend racing.

In Cambodia 1975, the eight-year-old Wai Lok-yan witnessed the tragedy of his parents being killed by Ray Lui (Paul Chun) while hiding in the closet with his younger sister. Back then, Yan's father Wah (Phillip Ko), Ray and Seung (David Chiang) were war comrades working for the CIA in Cambodia. Later Ray gone rogue and works for the Khmer Rouge and in order to take the information gathered by Wah, he killed Yan's parents, while Yan's younger sister also dies in a fire. After this incident, Seung takes the orphaned Yan to Thailand, where he became a Thai Air Force Pilot.
