MPI Media Group is an American producer, distributor and licensor of theatrical film and home entertainment. MPI’s subsidiaries include MPI Pictures, MPI Home Video and the horror film distributor Dark Sky Films. The company is located in Orland Park, Illinois, and was founded in 1976 by brothers Malik & Waleed Ali.

MPI also owns the WPA Film Library and the British Pathe Newsreel Archive.

After his mother is institutionalized, misfit Brodie is sent to live with his fundamentalist Christian Uncle Albert and Aunt Mary, whose son David torments him. A heavy metal fan, Brodie forms a band called Deathgasm with his friends Zakk, Dion, and Giles. When the bandmates break into a local house, they discover that one of their idols, reclusive musician Rikki Daggers, lives there. Daggers gives the band magical sheet music, which a cult later murders him to find. Skeptical of the sheet music's power, the band plays it, only to summon a demon. With the help of his crush, Medina, and his bandmates, Brodie must find a way to defeat the demon.

In 1979, after the tragic death of their son Bobby in a car accident, Anne (Barbara Crampton) and Paul Sacchetti (Andrew Sensenig) have decided to move to a new home in rural New England in the hopes that it will bring them some closure. Paul especially hopes that it will be therapeutic for Anne, as the death has hit her particularly hard and caused her to spiral into a deep depression. However almost as soon as they arrive Anne claims that Bobby's spirit is present in the house and she goes so far as to enlist the help of her friend May (Lisa Marie), a self-professed psychic, and her hippie husband Jacob (Larry Fessenden) in order to make contact with him. As strange events begin to occur in the house, Anne and Paul's neighbors begin to hint that the house has a dark past that has claimed the lives of several others.

During World War II, Russian soldiers on a reconnaissance mission receive a distress call that would lead them further into Germany. The message seems to repeat without any response to their queries, and at the same time that they begin to receive the message, they lose radio contact with their command. Although the others are dubious about the existence of other Russians in the area, Sgt. Novikov orders them to investigate. Dmitri, a Soviet propagandist who is filming the mission, interviews the soldiers and documents the proceedings. As they draw closer to the designated coordinates, Dmitri takes an interest in and films several odd occurrences, such as unexplained dead Nazis, a burnt convent full of massacred nuns and strange machinery. When the soldiers arrive at their destination, they find an abandoned church guarded by an undead person with metal implants; the film calls these creatures zombots in the credits. The zombot kills Sgt. Novikov, and, after they destroy the zombot, Sergei takes charge. The hotheaded Vassili challenges his authority, but the others back Sergei.

The film starts out with quiet, studious, high schooler, Sweetness O'Hara riding her bike with a friend down the street, when neighborhood bully Latonya, her boyfriend, and friends begins picking on her. The bully comes up behind her and pushes her to the ground, proceeding to kick her. Sweetness' older, yet pregnant sister, Ola, comes to her rescue, beating up the bully.

Richard Grindle (Ross Noble), a clown with the stage name "Stitches", makes out with a woman in his van. During sex, the woman notices an egg with a face painted on it encased in a glass tube. Stitches explains that "they" made him do it when he signed up. Stitches arrives late at Tom's (Ryan Burke) birthday, and attempts to entertain the children, but they instead ridicule him. Vinny (Gerald Ahern) ties Stitches' shoelaces together, causing him to trip and land on a kitchen knife. Stitches stands up and attempts to attack the children, but instead he slips on his own blood and the knife flies above him. Stitches falls onto the floor as the knife falls onto his eye, killing him. Tom visits Stitches' grave and finds a group of clowns performing a ritual, and the group's leader, The Motley, threatens Tom.

Then, while lighting up a joint, Marks asks "who here is a dope (marijuana) smoker?", to even greater applause. The film then diverts into Marks' internal monologue as he recounts his life.

After her landlady (Dee Wallace) gives her an extension on the deposit for her new apartment, college student Samantha Hughes (Jocelin Donahue) takes on a babysitting job for Mr. Ulman (Tom Noonan) and his wife (Mary Woronov). Ulman asks to meet her but stands her up, later apologizing and offering to pay double the original salary. Samantha accepts and gets a ride to the remote mansion from her best friend, Megan (Greta Gerwig), who expresses her distrust. At the house, Mr. Ulman pulls her aside and reveals that he does not have any children; the babysitting job is to attend to his wife's ailing mother. Samantha balks but finally agrees, if he will pay her $400, a significant increase in her pay. Megan immediately leaves, citing Ulman's lies and peculiar behavior, but she reluctantly promises to pick up Samantha later. Samantha stays, after accepting the money. On the way home, Megan stops in her car to smoke a cigarette. When her car lighter will not work, a stranger (A.J. Bowen) suddenly appears out of nowhere, startling her, and lights her cigarette for her. When Megan reveals that she is not the babysitter hired by the Ulmans, she is abruptly shot and murdered by the stranger.
