Picturehouse is a specialty film production and distribution company formed in 2005 as a joint venture of New Line Cinema and HBO Films, both divisions of Time Warner.
The company was formed from New Line and HBO's acquisition of the distribution arm of Newmarket Films, which was run by Bob Berney, who would remain the head of this new company. New Line's specialty division Fine Line Features was folded into Picturehouse. Its DVD releases were split between HBO Video and New Line Home Entertainment.
After Time Warner's 2008 consolidation of New Line into Warner Bros., the Hollywood press believed that Picturehouse and Warner Independent Pictures would retire and merge. On May 8, 2008, however, it was announced that both of the specialty divisions would be shut down, costing 70 employees their jobs.
Their most famous release is Pan's Labyrinth, a dark fairy-tale released in 2006, which won 3 Oscars.

In Ottumwa, Iowa Walter Day founded Twin Galaxies, an organization formed to keep track of high scores achieved on arcade games. Billy Mitchell, having achieved the highest ever recorded scores on Donkey Kong and Centipede in the 1980s, remains a video game legend in 2005. Twin Galaxies has now become a global organization. Mitchell is portrayed as unabashedly cocky and fond of self-promotion, proclaiming himself the "Sauce King" of Florida for his successful line of homemade hot sauces. Next to his family, Mitchell considers his arcade scores to be his greatest life achievements.

A long-running live radio show is in danger of being canceled by new owners of the company that holds both radio station "WLT" and the theater where the show is broadcast. The film takes place on the night of the show's last performance. The show has two visitors: an angel calling herself Asphodel (Virginia Madsen) comes to comfort the people who work on the show and to escort one of them to the afterlife, while "the Axeman" (Tommy Lee Jones), a representative of the new owners, arrives to judge whether the show should be canceled. He makes it clear that the show is not what he considers modern popular programming, and though he too is escorted by the angel, the show is shut down anyway. In an epilogue at the end of the film the former cast members are reunited at Mickey's Diner. Their conversation pauses as they are joined by Asphodel.

Puchi (Jennifer Lopez) talks about her late husband, salsa legend Héctor Lavoe (Marc Anthony), during a 2002 interview, as she reminisces about memories from the 1960s and '70s, following his arrival in New York City. She discusses their life together and his downfall, which was caused by drugs, alcohol and depression. Scenes of their meeting and courtship are inter-cut with Héctor performing, while Puchi stands on the side of the stage, dancing to the music.

In 1985, Brian Jackson is a first-year university student and information sponge. Since his working-class childhood in Southend-on-Sea, Brian has loved the TV quiz show University Challenge, whose famous catchphrase—"Your starter for 10"—gives the film its title. Soon after arriving at Bristol University, Brian attends a party where he meets the politically conscious Rebecca, with which he seems to have an instant connection. Brian attempts to join their University Challenge team but narrowly fails to secure a spot when he helps another potential candidate, Alice, cheat on the qualifying test. Brian falls for the glamorous Alice and tries to date her, despite her multiple signals that she only sees him as a platonic friend. As the term starts, Brian is invited to join the University Challenge team after one of the other members falls ill. The captain of the team, Patrick Watts, is a stuck-up post-grad who has managed to remain team captain despite never having achieved success on University Challenge. Brian immediately impresses the rest of the team with his wealth of trivia knowledge and uses his time with the team to get closer to Alice, eventually getting invited to her house for Christmas vacation. Unfortunately, Brian embarrasses himself in front of her family by getting stoned while trying to impress Alice. He returns to campus to spend the rest of his vacation and meets back up with Rebecca. They once again hit it off, but as they are hooking up, he inadvertently calls her "Alice", offending her and ruining the moment. Following his romantic failures, he talks with Spencer, his friend from back home who informs him that he is in legal trouble due to his criminal pursuits. Brian invites him to campus for a party before he has to face the judge.

The documentary follows the month-long live comedy variety tour of Vince Vaughn and four stand-up comedians in the spirit of Wild West Shows. Vaughn picked four comedians from The Comedy Store in Los Angeles (Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, Bret Ernst and Sebastian Maniscalco) for the tour. The tour began September 12, 2005 in Hollywood at the Music Box Theater and spanned 30 shows over 30 consecutive nights in 30 cities across the United States. Vince Vaughn acts as emcee and performs improv sketches with surprise guests. The comedians traveled over 6,000 miles on their tour and included stops in the Western, Southern, and Midwestern states. Grunge rocker Blake escapes rehab and walks home through a long forest, also swimming through a lake then lighting a fire for the night. The next day, he gets home and changes his clothes. He walks around in the house with a shotgun pointing it at his sleeping roommates Scott, Luke, Asia, and Nicole. He is greeted by Yellow Pages representative Thadeus A Thomas who talks to him about placing an ad in the upcoming book. He receives a phone call from his record company telling him that he and his band (Which also has Scott and Luke) have to do another tour and they have to make those dates. He goes upstairs and falls asleep on the floor in one of the rooms. Asia now waking up finds him asleep and two boys at the door. Scott and Luke answer the door and the two boys are there to talk to them about their church down the street. Blake changes into different clothes and leaves the house going to the shed outside as the christian boys leave.
