Synopsis
Three girls from Milan dreaming of a holiday in Rome arrive in the city by train and decide to pretend to be wealthy Danish girls to attract three good looking young men who offer them a guided tour through the landmarks of the city. The girls accept and make the guys spend a fortune, but one evening they get drunk and one of them incidentally reveals they are not Danish and are only from Milan. The guys get upset and plan their revenge, but in the end they make up.Actors

Italie, début des années 1950. M.Albertini (Carlo Campanini), propriétaire et directeur de la Fromagerie Albertini, vit dans la crainte exagérée d'une révolution communiste. Son personnel s'est mis en grève pour exiger la réintégration de deux ouvriers lincenciés, il est persuadé qu'ils veulent sa ruine. Il s'imagine que son comptable, Roberto (Robert Lamoureux), nouvellement arrivé en ville, est un dangereux agitateur. M. Albertini le suit pour connaître son domicile et constate avec effroi qu'il loge dans les locaux du Parti communiste italien et est convaincu que son comptable est un agent soviétique infiltré. Apprenant les soupçons de son père, Silvia Albertini (Silvana Pampanini), lassée de ses fades soupirants, se prend soudain d'intérêt pour Roberto, qu'elle croit être un mystérieux et dangereux aventurier révolutionnaire et veut l'épouser. D'abord outré par ce projet, Albertini y voit l'avantage de contrôler un agitateur secret en le prenant pour gendre, et l'invite à dîner.

Daniele, un garçon de 16 ans, trouve sa maison détruite et apprend que ses parents sont morts lors du bombardement. At the end of World War II, the promise of jobs and a chance to start a new life induced tens of thousands of young Italians to join the post-war immigration to Australia. In 1971, having lived about twenty-five years Down Under, one of those immigrants, middle-aged Amedeo Battipaglia, a lineman in the remote New South Wales settlement bearing the (fictional) name of Bun Bun Ga, several kilometers from the outback city of Broken Hill, is about to meet Carmela, his prospective bride from Rome, with whom he has been corresponding. Each of them misrepresented facts to the other — Carmela, a very attractive woman in her early thirties, is a semiliterate prostitute seeking an opportunity to get away from her abusive pimp, with the letters to Amedeo ghostwritten by her friend Rosalba, while Amedeo, feeling inadequate about his ordinary appearance, sent Carmela a photograph, taken about twenty years earlier, of himself between two Italian immigrant friends, Giuseppe Bartoni and Bampo. The arrow in the photo, however, is over Giuseppe because, when Amedeo visited his tall, handsome friend for advice, Giuseppe erased the arrow over Amedeo's head and pencilled it over his own head.

In the 18th century, Louis Dominique Bourguignon is working with Malichot's gang, but their ways are too 'unethical' for him. He hides out from Malichot and joins the army, where he and his two new friends survive by hiding out on the battlefield. Together they rob the general of his gold. Fleeing, they stop at an inn where they meet Venus, a beautiful gypsy who has been taken prisoner. He rescues her and she joins his gang. Returning to Paris, de Bourguignon creates his own band, acting under the name of Cartouche, and most of Malichot's gang join him. They make audacious robberies of the rich people, and distribute the takings with the poor. Thus, Cartouche attracts the people's sympathies, Venus's love, and hate from the Police and Malichot. Malichot goes to the police to betray Cartouche, but Cartouche can escape all the traps they set at him - except the entrapments of love. Eventually, the police use this against him and set a trap while he has a tryst with Venus in the countryside. He is captured, but his men ambush the guards as they lead him away. In the scuffle that follows, Cartouche is saved by Venus, who sacrifices her life to save him from harm. Cartouche and his men place Venus's body in an expensive carriage they stole earlier from a nobleman and roll the carriage in a lake. As the carriage slowly sinks Cartouche tells his men to disperse as he vows to avenge the death of his beloved Venus - a way that he anticipates will lead him sooner or later to the gallows.

The Magnificent Cuckold is about a hat tycoon who is ecstatically, if not hungrily, in love with his youthful wife. It is all blissful, that is, until our man, middle-aged and somewhat of a square among his blasé, upper-class friends to whom cuckoldry is a common practice, is seduced by one of them. At this point doubts and suspicions, like conscience, begin to plague him. If he could succumb to extramarital confections, why not his gorgeous mate? Quickly his love for his spouse degenerates beyond obsessive, into the realm of maniacal. He becomes madly concerned that his wife is cheating on him --even though she is not being unfaithful. When he looks at her it becomes obvious to him that she is a very attractive woman. And, all the men around her must be dying to be with her. Gnawed by jealously, he will imagine variations on nabbing her and her lover red-handed.
