Add to a movie listA Journey Through Fairyland (aka Yousei Furorensu or Fairy Florence 妖精フローレンス) is a 90-minute 1985 South Korean/Japanese/American animated film by Sanrio, the company which animated Unico, Legend of Sirius and Ringing Bell, though this story is less sought out as a rarity among Sanrio cult classic collectors. It is also Sanrio's final feature-length anime film until 2007. It was brought to America in 1995 through a company called Celebrity Home Ent. Unlike previous works, this one mainly focuses on music more than plot, prompting it to be compared with Disney's older work Fantasia (Video Business review). The one original piece is "My Name is Florence," which contains lyrics and is sung in the film; all other songs on the soundtrack are works of classical composition, written by Beethoven and other similarly noteworthy composers.

Set in 1905 (the year the Little Nemo comic strip premiered in the New York Herald), the film opens with the young boy Nemo experiencing a nightmare in which he is pursued by a locomotive. Upon awakening the next day, he goes to see a parade welcoming a traveling circus. However, Nemo is unable to see the circus because his father and his mother are too busy to take him. Later that night, Nemo imitates sleepwalking in an attempt to sneak some pie away, which acts against a promise he had made earlier to his mother. Upon falling asleep that night, Nemo is approached by figures from the parade. The circus organist introduces himself as Professor Genius and claims that they had been sent on a mission by King Morpheus, the king of a realm named Slumberland. The mission involves Nemo becoming the playmate of the princess, Camille. Although Nemo initially has reservations about interacting with royalty of the opposite gender, he decides to set off to fulfill his mission after being persuaded with a gift box of cookies from the princess.

Elmer Herbert, un jeune garçon qui vit dans un petit village côtier, rencontre un chat errant qui prétend être un grand explorateur. Although the film's story is rooted in the familiar fairy tale of the same name, this version does add a few new characters and plot twists. The tale starts out in the manner that most of us are accustomed to—Jack resides with his mother in a small house out in the country. Being very poor, they eventually find themselves forced to sell their cow, which has stopped giving milk. Jack runs into a mysterious man on the way into town and trades the cow for a handful of "magic" beans. Jack's mother is not very thrilled with him and ends up throwing the beans out the window.

Mewtwo, his heart having been softened by the selfless example of the human named Ash Ketchum back in his birthland in the eastern Kanto region, has now traveled to the western region of Johto in search of a location that is unreachable by the prying eyes and harsh judgments of humans for the sake of his band of cloned Pokémon, with whose welfare Mewtwo is solely concerned. He eventually finds the perfect hideaway: a huge mountain named Mt. Quena, surrounded by steep cliffs that are practically impossible to scale, but in its top is a forest and a freshwater lake that makes for a near-utopia for all the Bug Pokémon living there. This is a perfect fit for Mewtwo's band, so thus they settle in the top of Mt. Quena and begin a new, safe life, with Mewtwo watching over as their guardian, as he feels they cannot belong in the world as they were not born in it (Interestingly enough, he seems particularly close to the Pikachu and Meowth clones, possibly reflecting how important their templates were in his change of heart).

Jafar, Grand Vizier to the Sultan of the fictional sultanate of Agrabah, attempts to retrieve a magical oil lamp containing a genie from the Cave of Wonders. He enlists a petty thief to enter the cave and retrieve it, whose attempt fails. Jafar and his parrot assistant, Iago, learn that only a "Diamond in the Rough" can enter the cave. Meanwhile, Jasmine, the Sultan's daughter, frustrated with her life in the palace, flees to Agrabah's marketplace. There she meets street rat Aladdin and his monkey pet, Abu, and the two begin to form a friendship. In the human world, the students of Canterlot High School are preparing for an upcoming musical showcase, where Twilight Sparkle's human friends are to perform in their own band called the Rainbooms. They find that they assume half-pony forms whenever they play, which is caused by the Equestrian magic brought by Twilight's crown. Meanwhile, former school bully Sunset Shimmer is ostracized by the rest of the students despite her efforts to redeem herself, though Twilight's friends still value their newfound friendship with Sunset. Sunset volunteers to show three new students—Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk—around the school. The trio, who form a band called the Dazzlings, perform a magical song that drives the students to aggression and competition, and they convince the school to make the showcase a Battle of the Bands. Sunset and her friends are unaffected by the Dazzlings' spell, and they contact Equestria for help through a magical book given to Sunset by Princess Celestia.

During a benefit concert in Paris, France, David Seville (Jason Lee) is injured.
