A young man in sits in prison on the night before his execution, while his girlfriend waits for the inevitable in the prison governor's house. The governor and his wife sympathize with both of them. It is the first use of the electric chair in the state, and there are teething problems with its installation. Meanwhile a group of reporters discussing the case, realize that the M.O. of the crime bears a similar style to that of a criminal, "Parrot" Farucco, who was supposed to have died three years previously. As the execution takes place off camera, a prison orderly collecting mail in the cafe identifies a customer as Farucco. After the Stock Market Crash of 1929, the Colt-Stratton family are forced to rent out their yacht to the nouveau riche at the behest of Nella Fitzgerald (Polly Moran), including gambler Barry Forbes (Sidney Blackmer) and his sidekick Freddy Finn (Sterling Holloway). When Freddy rigs the yacht's roulette wheel to respond to his saxophone, in order to raise money for Linda Colt-Stratton (Sidney Fox), who has caught the eye of the gambler, he is caught, but moments later Captain "Sunny Jim" Roberts (Ned Sparks) runs the yacht aground on the South Sea Island of Malakamokolu, run by Queen Malakamokalu (Mary Boland), a white woman, who takes the paasengers as forced labor. Tiring of them, she offers to release them if Barry stays to marry her. However, once she hears Freddy play his saxophone, she falls in love with him and plans to blow up the yacht with a bomb. Lors d'une soirée à New York, Jeffrey Baxter, un avocat, demande Glenda O'Brien en mariage, sans savoir qu'elle a déjà vécu avec quelqu'un. Il arrive à lui faire avouer le crime lors d'un faux procès au cours d'un bal masqué. Plus tard Glenda se confesse à Jeffrey, qui la comprend et continue à vouloir l'épouser. Stephen fait arrêter Glenda, mais Jeffrey a obtenu une confession de Little Maxie à propos des projets de meurtre de Leo et Glenda est libérée.
