The Clinging Vine is a 1926 silent film produced by Cecil B. DeMille and Paul Sloane and directed by Sloane. It was distributed by DeMille's Producers Distributing Corporation. The film is based on a 1922 Broadway play by Zelda Sears. A starring vehicle for Leatrice Joy who left Paramount along with DeMille when he formed his own distributing company PDC.

This film is preserved at the Library of Congress and is available on the DVD.

Professor Bird (Woolsey) and his partner, Sparrow (Wheeler), are a pair of charlatan fortune tellers who are bankrupt and stranded at a Mexican resort just south of the border. Patricia "Patsy" Harrington est un peu timide face à sa mère et à sa sœur aînée Grace. Elle tente d'attirer l'attention d'un des prétendants de Grace, Tony Anderson. Suivant les conseils de Tony, elle lit un livre sur le développement de la personnalité. Pour montrer sa "personnalité" à Tony, elle fait des imitations de Pola Negri, Mae Murray ou Lillian Gish. Comme il reste indifférent, elle fait une fausse fugue avec un jeune homme pour rendre Tony jaloux, mais cela n'a pour conséquence que la colère de toute sa famille. Finalement, son père sortira de son apathie pour s'affirmer comme le vrai maître de maison, Patsy sera aimée de Tony et Grace portera son attention sur quelqu'un d'autre.

Jack Dougan et Snatcher Nell, un couple de voleurs, décident de dérober les cadeaux au mariage de Madge Carr et James Cluney. Aimilia, 32 ans, courtier en bourse, passe son temps à draguer mais ne réussit jamais à ramener un homme chez elle. Sa sœur, Laoura, une gymnaste de 30 ans, a une liaison avec un homme marié, Dimosthenis. La plus jeune sœur, Elena, une architecte de 23 ans, multiplie les aventures, mais sans lendemain. Régulièrement, les sœurs se retrouvent, par groupe de deux, pour intervenir dans la vie sentimentale de la troisième. Elena et Aimilia essayent de séparer Laoura de son homme marié et de la pousser dans les bras d'un photographe amoureux d'elle, Tasos. Laoura et Elena essayent d'éloigner Aimilia d'un autre courtier qui ne sera jamais qu'un ami, mais aussi du médecin Dimitris qu'elle fait fuir par son insistance. Enfin, Laoura et Aimilia essayent d'éloigner Elena de Johnny qui profite d'elle en l'emmenant dans des soirées échangistes et tentent de la pousser dans les bras du beau policier Christos. Aucun des projets ne réussit et chaque sœur se retrouve à devoir régler seule ses problèmes.
