The film was directed and written by Alexander Stitt and stars John Farnham and Jacki Weaver. It is the first ever animated feature film to be made in 3-D. Stitt co-produced the film with Phillip Adams.
The film was theatrically released in stereoscopic 3D as well as in a regular version.

Maya, une jeune abeille tout juste sortie de son rayon de cire, explore la ruche qu'elle découvre mais en provoquant quelques dégâts. Elle finit par sortir de la ruche et rencontre Flip la sauterelle à qui elle explique que personne ne l'aime à la ruche. Pendant ce temps, la conseillère royale Buzzlina complote pour usurper le trône de la reine en lui volant la gelée royale et en accusant les Frelons tout juste installés dans la prairie. Maya et tous ses nouveaux amis composés de Flip, Willi (son premier ami abeille), Piquant le Frelon et d'autres vont alors tenter de sauver la situation.

In "Andalasia", an animated fairy tale world devoid of problems, in which there are talking animals and "happy endings", Queen Narissa frets that her stepson Prince Edward will soon find his true love, which means that Narissa's position on the throne would be taken over. The short starts in with Remy introducing himself and Emile to the audience and speaking on behalf of oppressed rats everywhere. Emile starts frowning about having to speak out, while Remy pulls a scroll and a two-dimensional animation starts by presenting the relation between a human and a rat in contrast with human-dog and human-cat relationships. Remy points out that humans regarded rats in former times as sacred and luck-bringing. He says that during the Roman Empire if a white rat crosses your path, it brought good luck, while if a black rat crosses your path, it brought bad luck. He moves on to discussing black rats (Rattus rattus) and their connection to the Black Death, pointing out that it was caused by fleas not rats, resulting in the death of one third of Europe's population.
