Across the Plains is a 1939 American Western film directed by Spencer Gordon Bennet and starring Addison Randall, Frank Yaconelli, and Joyce Bryant. Written by Robert Emmett Tansey, the film is about two brothers who are separated when they are young and who meet again as adults, one good and one bad.

Synopsis

Deux jeunes frères sont séparés lorsque leur wagon est attaqué et leurs parents tués. Un frère Cherokee est élevé par des Indiens et l'autre, le Kansas Kid, par le chef de gang hors-la-loi Buff. Vingt ans plus tard, ils se retrouvent sans le savoir quand le Kid s'en prend à des wagons guidés par Cherokee.

The film sees US Deputy Marshal Dan Lawson teaming up with RCMP Sergeant Gray to go undercover and capture the nefarious smuggler Bart Randall. Lawson, posing as an outlaw called Laramie, is ready to infiltrate the gang led by Randall, a self-styled Gun Emperor of the Northwest, who is wanted for murder and bank robbery in the United States. In addition to the difficulties inherent in the mission, Lawson has other issues to deal with, including the use of a fake totem and flying a hydra plane to overawe the menacing Indians and regenade whites. He also is aided in his search by Donna Blaine, who is suspected at first of giving information to Randall, but who in reality is a Canadian secret agent investigating Randall's illegal gun trading with the Indians.

A film about a land dispute. Charles Mortimer (Elliott) buys cattle from Ken Morley (Maynard) and builds a fence to keep them in. His neighbour, Slater (Bond), is angered by Mortimer's actions because he wants access to the land. By way of revenge, he builds a dam cutting off Mortimer's water supply. Morley confronts Slater, and Slater captures and imprisons him in a shack. The dam is subsequently destroyed by lightning, and the shack holding Mortimer is in the path of the oncoming surge of water.
