Synopsis
Jeune homme idéaliste, Michael Sullivan décroche l'emploi de ses rêves : il devient coordinateur de l'opération Pétrole contre nourriture, un programme visant à satisfaire les besoins humanitaires du peuple irakien après la guerre du Golfe. Mais Sullivan découvre que derrière cette opération humanitaire se cache une conspiration au plus haut niveau. L'Irak attise la convoitise de bon nombre d'agents du gouvernement américain et de pays étrangers. Après avoir mené une enquête secrète, l'apprenti fonctionnaire comprend que ses soupçons étaient bien fondés et qu'une importante affaire de corruption est en train de prendre forme. Mais il s'aperçoit que son propre chef est lui-même impliqué dans ce scandale comme de nombreux responsables politiques. Sullivan n'a pas d'autre choix que de devenir un lanceur d'alerte qui, en révélant les faits, met en danger sa vie et la carrière de son mentor.Actors

The film opens to the sounds of a couple having sex. Afterwards, Carlos the Jackal (Aidan Quinn) kills a spider in its web with his cigarette and evicts the woman (Lucie Laurier) from his room because he claims he has work to do. He is seen donning a disguise, and he walks to a cafe where CIA officer Jack Shaw (Donald Sutherland) is sitting at a table outdoors. He recognizes Shaw and asks for a light. Shaw does not recognize Carlos, because of his disguise, but he turns to watch Carlos enter the cafe. He watches as Carlos detonates a grenade, killing dozens of people.

In Southampton in 1916, HMHS Britannic, a sister ship of RMS Titanic, has been refitted as a hospital ship for soldiers fighting in the Gallipoli Campaign. Among the nurses who are to serve aboard her is Lady Lewis (Jacqueline Bisset), who is being delivered to Greece via Naples, where her husband has become Ambassador for Great Britain. Traveling with her is Vera Campbell (Amanda Ryan), an operative of British Intelligence posing as Lady Lewis' governess. Campbell is unnerved by the voyage, having survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic four years previously, losing her husband as well.
