Synopsis
Gopi (Govinda) is a simpleton from Banaras. He gets married to a foreign returned Madhu (Ramya) . He is the family and faithful type. She is a daredevil, happy-go-lucky type. He represents the Indian values. She would not mind taking a dive in the village pond in a bikini. One day it was her birthday party and she starts drinking and dancing. Gopi feels ashamed about his wife being like that. He gets angry and slaps her, he noticed that he did the wrong thing but she ran away. She wants to live abroad. He wants to stay with his mother in his village. She walks out on him. Mother wants the daughter-in-law back. He decides to get the bride back but after teaching her lesson. He goes to Singapore and other foreign locales to hunt for the runaway bride. They keep meeting off and on. He also succeeds in making her pregnant and preventing the doctor from aborting the child. She delivers a baby-boy. In the meanwhile, he becomes rich and famous. He now walks away with the 15-days-old kid and comes back to his village and threatens to marry again. The stage is set for his re-marriage. She appears on the scene. She wants the child back. Confrontation, She says she cannot live without the child. He says if she cannot live without her 15-days-old child then why did she want to separate his mother from her child. She realises her mistake.Actors

Shaadiram Gharjode (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) is once humiliated by Hoshiyar Chand (Kader Khan) when Shaadiram goes to inform him about a family wanting to marry their son to Hoshiyar's daughter. Hoshiyar Chand insults them as he wants both his daughters to marry into the richest family. Gharjode decides to teach Hoshiyar Chand a lesson: He meets a coolie called Raju (Govinda) and they go to Hoshiyar Chand's village pretending to be a rich family. Hoshiyar is impressed and he wants his daughter Malti (Karisma Kapoor) to marry Raju. This leads to humorous situations in the climax.

Raja Babu (Govinda) is a poor orphan adopted by a wealthy village couple (Kader Khan and Aruna Irani). He is a typical country bumpkin, good-hearted but lacking in urban manners. His vanity, not discouraged by his mother's doting, leads him to have his photograph taken often at the village photo studio, each time in a different outfit. He is always accompanied by his sidekick Nandu, (Shakti Kapoor). Nandu is of a lower rung in the social strata, evidenced by his refusal to be seated on Raja's motorcycle, even when implored: the same kindness extended by the wealthy Singh family in adopting Raja is evident in the family's treatment of Raja's friend, in spite of Nandu's clownish antics.

Shyamsunder (Govinda) is a naive villager who has a great interest in music. He travels to the city, making friends with Muthuswami (Satish Kaushik), a South Indian tabla player. The president of the TIPS cassette company, Khurana (Kader Khan), is impressed with his musical abilities and promotes him to a high position. As he goes back to repay his debts in the village he receives tragic news of the death of his wife Pooja (Karisma Kapoor) has died in a flood. He then marries Khurana's daughter Divya (Tabu). When Khurana has a heart attack, he finds his "presumed dead" wife Pooja in the hospital. He then has to fool his two wives, even if it includes leading a double life to make sure Pooja and Divya don't discover he has married both of them.

A woman Neha (Ramya Krishnan) witnesses the murder of a friend of her named Madhu (Divya Dutta) by a notorious smuggler Zorawar (Paresh Rawal) but she skips while being chased by Zorawar's goons and ends up in the secure custody of police inspector Arjun Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a friend of police inspector Pyare Mohan (Govinda). In reality, Neha, unaware of their identities, believes Arjun to be "Pyare", about whom she was agreeably apprised of by Madhu, and so, Arjun has to impersonate Pyare, giving rise to hilarious situations. Concurrently, Pyare flirts with Seema (Raveena Tandon) - Arjun's sister. Everything could have been passable for the two cops if two lookalikes of the cops, by the nicknames "Bade Miyan" (Amitabh Bachchan) and "Chote Miyan" (Govinda) had not been a cause of concern for them because of the misdeeds they commit leading to Arjun and Pyare being accused as the miscreants everytime. With background scores of the songs (specially "Bade Miyan Toh Bade Miyan") that stir the listeners, the movie advances through scenes of thrill and amusement.

Mrs. Malhotra (Reema Lagoo) is the mother of twins, who were separated at birth, and she only has one son. Mrs. Malhotra goes into shock and then is restricted to a wheelchair. She resides with her husband and son in the US. Quiet and mature Prem, (Salman Khan) one of the twins, and his dad (Dalip Tahil) return to India together with Mrs. Malhotra to get Prem married. There Prem meets with his twin brother very outgoing and precocious Raja (also Salman Khan), who looks like him, but is exactly the opposite in nature. A series of comic scenes result as a result of the twins getting together. Prem loves quiet and mature Roopa (Rambha) and Raja loves Mala (Karishma Kapoor), and both the girls are confused by the change they perceive in their respective lovers. To make matters worse, Tiger Ratanlal (Mukesh Rishi) has sworn vengeance against the Malhotra family for what they did to his dad (Deepak Shirke).
