The film is based on the life of the German poet Friedrich Schiller (1759 –1805) and upon his long relationships with two sisters, Caroline and Charlotte von Lengefeld. Schiller was ultimately married to Charlotte von Lengefeld.
The film was nominated for the Golden Bear Award at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, and had its premiere at the festival. It was selected as the German entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, but was not nominated.
Synopsis
Au cours de l’été 1788, à Rudolstadt en Allemagne, les sœurs aristocratiques Caroline von Beulwitz, mariée de force pour sauver sa famille de la ruine, et Charlotte von Lengefeld (qui deviendra sa femme), célibataire vainement en quête d'un mari, rencontrent le jeune poète aux idées progressistes Friedrich von Schiller. Séduites, elles échangent sur fond de Sturm und Drang des messages cryptés avec le fougueux écrivain et prennent la décision de partager leur sentiment avec lui, mais ce ménage à trois, d’abord harmonieux, ne tardera pas à susciter commérages et rancœurs…Actors

In 1961, the financially strapped author Pamela "P. L." Travers reluctantly travels from her home in London to Los Angeles to work with Walt Disney at the urging of her agent, Diarmuid Russell. Disney has pursued the film rights to her Mary Poppins stories for twenty years, having promised his daughters that he would produce a film based on them. Travers has steadfastly resisted Disney's efforts because she fears what he would do to her character. However, she has not written anything in a while and her book royalties have dwindled to nothing, so she risks losing her house.
