Beyond Reason is a 1970 Australian film.

Synopsis

Nuclear war breaks out and the staff and patients of a mental hospital take refuge in an underground bunker and accidentally get locked in. Discipline soon disintegrates and the patients, led by Richard, start to resist authority. Richard devises a scheme for a new social order where the sane will take no part. The doctors try to resist but are ultimately overcome.

They settle in inner-city accommodation, but find it impossible to obtain work in the midst of Australia’s 1952–53 recession. Together with a woman friend, the men move to a farm outside Melbourne. Several teenage boys in Galesburg, Illinois are murdered, each apparently by a different killer. Local policeman John Brady (Murphy) investigates.
