Synopsis
Cécile, très sérieuse étudiante en ethnologie à l'université de Nice, termine sa thèse sur le dernier peuple primitif existant de nos jours. Mais la jeune femme, ainsi que le département d'ethnologie dans lequel elle est doctorante, sont humiliés par la modernisation de ce peuple qui se retrouve en Une de toute la presse. Afin d'effacer cet échec, Cécile n'a pas d'autre choix que de faire profil bas et de devenir l'assistante de son directeur de thèse qui rédige un livre sur la culture Maori.Actors

The Yamakasi are seven young sport nuts of obviously different ethnic backgrounds who are all dedicated to parkour. They live in France in a banlieue, a ghetto especially designed for paupers and traditionally inhabited by immigrants from former French colonies. The motley group uses their sport to enjoy themselves without drugs and to gain recognition in a peaceful way. One morning, they are reported buildering the east side of the Bleuets building and evading the police after that. While they consider themselves good examples for youths in the banlieue, the local chief of police feels otherwise. From his point of view, they are reckless and dangerous individuals prone to become criminals while one of his men, Inspector Vincent Asmine believes they are dangerous only because children could hurt themselves by trying to emulate them. On this occasion each single member is introduced through his birth name and alias to the spectators of the film too: Zicmu (Ousmane Dadjacan), Tango (Jean-Michel Lucas), Rocket (Abdou N'Goto), the Spider (Bruno Duris), the Weasel (Malik N'Diaye), Baseball (Oliver Chen), and Sitting Bull (Ousmane Bana).

Au milieu des années 1970, Simon (Vincent Elbaz) et sa bande habitent le quartier populaire de Belleville dans le XXe arrondissement de Paris. 1977. Dans la petite ville fictive de Sainte-Gudule, située dans le Nord, près de Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, l'usine de parapluies Pujol-Michonneau est dirigée par un patron réactionnaire et misogyne, Monsieur Pujol (Fabrice Luchini), qui a épousé la fille Michonneau, Suzanne (Catherine Deneuve). Cette dernière, surnommée « la potiche » par sa propre fille, supporte sans broncher le mauvais caractère, les vexations et les infidélités de son mari, notamment la relation qu’il entretient avec sa secrétaire, Nadège (Karin Viard). Pujol est excédé par le climat social exécrable qui règne dans son usine. Le député-maire communiste de la ville, Maurice Babin (Gérard Depardieu) ne se prive pas de souffler sur les braises. Un jour les ouvriers déclenchent une grève sans préavis qui débouche sur la séquestration de Pujol. Il fait une grave attaque cardiaque. Dans l'attente de son rétablissement, sa « potiche » de femme décide, à la surprise générale, de prendre la direction de l'entreprise. Et, à la surprise générale, elle s'en tire plutôt bien.

François (Bernard Campan) is a bored office worker with health problems. He visits a brothel and claiming to have won the lottery and millions of euros, he propositions Daniela (Monica Bellucci), one of the prostitutes to live with him for the sum of 100,000 euros a month until his money runs out. She accepts. François' first doctor, André, is worried that Daniela's volcanic sexuality will cause François' heart to give out. The next day she takes François to beach and he loves that fresh air. They both starts running with hands wide out and cheering in joy. Then they both involve in sex inside François's car. That night André inquires them and finds their sexual activity that evening. Then André gives a moving speech about an idealistic and unrequited love he has for a nurse who later became his patient. Later, when Daniela suffers food poisoning and André is summoned to treat her, when she undresses he suffers a stroke and dies. At the funeral, François learns that André's nurse/patient/girlfriend had died some years before. The arrangement between Daniela and François seems to work for a little while until Daniela's former lover, Charly (Gérard Depardieu) demands money to allow the relationship to continue. François refuses and Daniela resumes being with Charly. While Daniela is having sex with Charly, she realizes she has really fallen in love with François who has meanwhile, started an affair with his next-door neighbor. The film concludes with a surreal pastiche of fantasy and conjecture which begins with François admitting that he never won the lottery.
