It was loosely based on the novel Blood and Sand of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, which had been made three times before in 1916, 1922 and 1941.
Synopsis
Blood and Sand revolves around the young and talented natural gifted Toreros Juan Gallardo played by Christopher Rydel. Gallardo wants to be popular in bullfighting. His love Carmen (Ana Torrent), has a cousin who has left home with Gallardo for bullfighting competition. They successfully earn some level and skills in the arena, but something went wrong and the bull charged at Gallardo, but his friend saved Gallardo and it cost him his own life. Gallardo then left and met Lady Dona Sol (Sharon Stone) a beautiful rich lady, where he was offered to join her company as a worker of her fields and lands, but Gallardo insisted to become a superstar in bullfighting in his country. As Gallardo is leaving her home, a security guard tells him to join the a bullfighting trainer Nacional (Albert Vidal). Nacional trains Gallardo until he is able to join the national bullfighting competition. Another friend of Gallardo, Garabato (Guillermo Montesinos) also joins him. He displays brilliant skills in his first appearance of national league and his popularity rises.Actors

Fighting in the trenches of Biscay in 1875 during the Third Carlist War, Carmelo Mendiluze, an army sergeant, learns from a young errand boy named Ilegorri that Manuel Iriguíbel, his neighbor from his native village, has joined their exhausted battalion. In 1973, Sam "Ace" Rothstein (Robert De Niro) is a sports handicapper and Mafia associate who is sent to Las Vegas to run the Teamsters Union-funded Tangiers Casino on behalf of the Chicago Outfit. He hires old friend Billy Sherbert (Don Rickles) as his manager. In between, Ace and his friend, mob enforcer and caporegime Nicholas "Nicky" Santoro (Joe Pesci), narrate how the mob bosses control the Teamsters Union, which gives out money for casinos that they own, such as The Tangiers, and how they also drive off rival crews and get rid of cheaters. Ace becomes the Tangiers' de facto boss by taking advantage of lax gaming laws allowing him to work at the casino while his gaming license is still pending. He doubles the casino's profits, which are skimmed by the Mob before the records are reported to income tax agencies. The bosses are impressed with Ace's work and send Nicky to protect Ace and the whole business, along with Nicky's brother Dominick, Nicky's friend and subordinate Frank Marino (Frank Vincent), and the rest of Nicky's soldiers in his crew. Nicky, however, becomes more of a liability than an asset; his criminal activities- which he makes nearly no effort to conceal- and his violent and vicious temper quickly gets him banned by the gaming board from every casino, and his name is placed in the Black Book. In retaliation, Nicky gathers his own crew, opens a jewelry store and restaurant, begins running unsanctioned shakedowns and burglaries, and soon after is considered the mob boss of Vegas.

A dying man finds that horses, blondes, and the Mob may end his life faster than cancer. Joe (Billy Connolly) is a regular guy who runs a flower shop and has never had much in the way of good luck. Don Johnston (Bill Murray), a former Don Juan who made a small fortune in the computer industry, wants to live in quiet retirement. He is content to lounge around watching old movies and listening to classical or easy listening music. His current girlfriend, Sherry (Julie Delpy), is ending their relationship and moving out of his house when a letter in a pink envelope arrives. After she walks out, Don reads the letter; it purports to be from an unnamed former girlfriend, informing him that he has a son who is nearly nineteen years old, and who may be looking for him. Initially, Don does not intend to do anything about it, but his busybody neighbor Winston (Jeffrey Wright), who is a mystery novel enthusiast, urges Don to investigate. Winston researches the current locations of the five women most likely to have written the letter and gives Don the information along with maps and flight reservations, and persuades him to visit them.
