Synopsis
The story is about Sameer (Mammootty), a sweeper with the Alappuzha Municipality, who is always on tenterhooks because he is on the police radar whenever there is trouble or an act of terror occurs. Later it is revealed that his brother-in-law Shahjahan (Unni Mukundan) was suspected to be part of the terror team that had planted bombs in Bombay in 1993 and was later killed in an encounter with the Army in Andhra Pradesh.Actors

Balachandran (Mammooty), an accountant with a fertilizer company, is also someone with deep passion for books and literature. He is a bachelor, keeping himself shut from the rest of the world. Residing in a small one room at a lodge in Kochi, Balachandran had also started writing a novel, but could not go forward due to writing block. Shivadasan (Mukesh), a publisher, happens to read the initial parts of the novel, and is much enthusiastic about publishing this work. He persuades Balachandran to complete the work as fast as he could, so that it could be published. Shivadasan is confident about the success of this novel. Balachandran asks Shivadasan to hand over certain amount of money to one girl named Fathima, who is suffering from heart ailment. Though not have ever seen her, Balachandran is financially supporting Fatima for some time and she respects and admires him. One day Balachandran gets a call from Padma (Khushboo Sundar)after long years. She was his girl friend during college days, but couldn't get married due to social and financial difference between the families. She was married to a businessman in Mumbai, and is now separated from him. The arrival of Padma brings a new light into his life. They talk for long time on phone, and shares their feelings. He is then carried back to his old college life. Balachandran, in the meantime completes his novel. Shivadasan is all set to publish this work. Balachandran plans to arrive in Kozhikode, his home town for Fathima's heart surgery. Also he has plans to meet Padma after long years. He, in sudden need of finance to meet the surgery expenses, sell of his land.But that night, Feroz Babu, the owner of his lodge is arrested by police for terror charges. Though, they found no evidence at lodge, and had no proof against him, he is taken to the police station as he is a Muslim. Balachandran reaches the station to enquire about Faisal Babu, and is ill treated by the inspector. He is poked fun for helping a Muslim girl and police blames him of being soft towards terrorists. Balachandran loses control over this and replies back emotionally. The senior officer, who arrives at the spot suddenly decides to release Feroz Babu along with Balachandran. He boards a bus to Kozhikode that night with the cash and his novel in the bag. But the next morning a bomb explodes in the bus and Balachandran is one among those who were killed.

The movie is about the journey of a Malayali youth Anwar (Prithviraj) into the clutches of anti-social elements. The protagonist has another hidden agenda in joining the terrorist outfit. The movie opens with the visuals of Coimbatore bomb blast and the introduction of a special team under Stalin Manimaran (Prakash Raj) who arrests Babu Sait (Lal), a local community leader as a suspect in the bomb blast case. Meanwhile, Anwar a Muslim youth is arrested while passing on with some Hawala money and is sent to jail with Babu Sait and his team. Anwar performs his Namaaz daily five times. He is also fascinated by the terrorist activities of Babu Sait. Babu Sait helps Anwar in getting a bail and lures him to his activities. Anwar is attracted towards Terror acts and even successfully terminates two local drug dealers. Soon he becomes the most trusted and obedient right hand of Babu Sait. Anwar succeeds in planting a bomb in the police Headquarters and is soon introduced to Basheer Bhai (Sampath Raj), who selects him to spearhead another big, but dangerous project of chain blasts. Their plans were to plant a series of chain blasts in Mumbai. Though Anwar goes on with their plans, he has a haunting flashback, which forms the twist in the story. Babu Sait Shows the pictures of the coimbatore blast, which diverts Anwar to his flashback. The Flashback goes like this: Anwar and his family is a family that lives in a rural area of Palakkad. Anwar, an NRI returns from America for his sister's wedding. There he meets his sister's best friend Ayesha (Mamta Mohandas), and falls for her. His family knows about this and proposes to her. She accepts. But when they go out for shopping to Coimbatore, Anwar goes out of the cloth shop for refreshing and a sudden blast happens, killing the whole family except him. Meanwhile, Ayesha is arrested & then Anwar goes out to Stalin for her bail. But he refuses and tell it could not be done owing to lack of proof. He then tells Stalin that he will assist in the discovery of the terrorists, which lead to the present part of the story. Both of them have a secret meeting about the bomb blasts planned by Babu Sait & Co. Stalin brings Ayesha so that they could meet after a long time. When Babu Sait's Men arrives, Stalin tells Anwar to act as if they were having a fight, and one of the Babu Sait's men shoot Stalin, hereby killing, thinking that Anwar was having a fight. But after that, Anwar was given the big responsibility of transporting the deadly terrorists to Mumbai, through a ship containing full of explosives & weapons. Anwar at first made them think that he was on their side, but soon he blasts the ship by firing on it and killing all of the terrorists. Babu Sait becomes furious, that Anwar cheated them. When Anwar says about his parents, their flashbacks, which Babu Sait commits suicide. Anwar then calls the phone of Stalin which is under the police custody. He tells that the mission is over. After that it is narrated that Stalin & his colleague got bravery awards but no one has recognised the near-death battle Anwar has played. The film ends when both Anwar & Ayesha are in a quiet place, living together in a small house. The end-credits rolls with the "Njan" song.

In early April 2006, Private First Class Angel "Sally" Salazar (Izzy Diaz), a young United States Army soldier serving in the Iraq War, is an aspiring filmmaker who enlisted in the U.S. Army to help him get into film school, as he "did not get into USC". Montine McLeod (Melissa Leo) is a flight attendant who gets stuck with Omar Hassan (Anthony Keyvan) after their flight gets grounded in Longview, Texas, the morning of 11 September 2001. Omar is an unaccompanied minor; in the chaos that ensues, Montine becomes his temporary guardian. Montine later discovers that Omar's father works in the World Trade Center. She decides to drive the boy home after he informs her his father is at home waiting for him in New York. On the journey, they begin to bond and learn more about each other. Montine makes a stop on the way to New York as she receives a call that her mother is dying. Upon arriving at her mother's house, she finds her mother already dead. After dealing with her mother's death, she continues on the road to take Omar home. When they get there, they learn Omar's father has not been home in the two days since the destruction of the Twin Towers. Later that night, Montine receives a call from her employer and is forced to bring Omar with her. At the ensuing meeting, Montine is terminated; Omar is taken from her and given to his school head master for the night before leaving for a new school the following day (the reason he was on the original flight). The day Omar is set to leave for Los Angeles, he locks himself in the bathroom and refuses to come out. Montine is asked to come; she coaxes Omar out of the bathroom and she walks him to his flight to Los Angeles.

Nine-year-old Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn) is the son of German American Thomas Schell (Tom Hanks). Thomas would often send Oskar on missions to do something involving one of his riddles.
