Produced by Prasad V Potluri under the banner PVP cinema, it features Mahesh Babu, Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Pranitha Subhash in the lead roles. Mickey J. Meyer composes the film's music while R. Rathnavelu and A. Sreekar Prasad handle the film's cinematography and editing respectively. Principal photography commenced on 31 May 2015. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release in January 2016 during the Sankranthi festival.

A kindhearted man, known as "Relangi mavayya" ("Relangi Uncle") by his family, lives in the village of the same name. His middle-class family consists of his wife, mother, niece Seetha and three children: two sons (Peddodu, "the elder" and Chinnodu, "the younger") and a daughter, Chinni. Peddodu is an introvert, who lives life on his own terms and is unsociable. Although Seetha wants to marry him, her love is apparently unrequited. Chinnodu is the opposite of his brother. He falls in love with Geetha, the daughter of Seetha's paternal uncle who is jealous of Chinnodu's father and denigrates his family's economic status. Although the family is close-knit, the brothers do not communicate well with each other.

Ramachandran (Sachin Khedekar) is a genetic scientist who doesn't get due credit and funds for his research. The film begins with Varun (Nani) gaining admission into an engineering college. He and his friends one day participate in a cultural programme, where Varun finds his childhood sweetheart Nithya (Samantha) participating in a dance show. He begins wooing her by singing on stage and later meeting her. As they meet, the film rewinds to their early days when both were in third standard. They become good friends after a small incident and their friendship blossoms. But due to a misunderstanding, Nithya decides not to meet Varun and to never talk with him. However, as destiny would have it, they meet again in their tenth standard. Sadhu Bhai (Kelly Dorji) is a notorious mafia leader who escaped India after various terrorist attacks and conquered the underworld of the entire southeast Asia, and no one dares to challenge Sadhu Bhai.
