Champions of Faith (or Champions of Faith: Baseball Edition) is a direct-to-video 2008 documentary, based on Major League Baseball players and how their faith has strengthened their careers.

Synopsis

Champions of Faith: Baseball Edition is a documentary film that showcases the intersection of sports and faith in Major League Baseball by profiling many of the most accomplished and devout figures in the game. Major League baseball's Mike Piazza, David Eckstein, Jeff Suppan, Mike Sweeney, Jack McKeon and Rich Donnelly lead the cast in this sports special that tells the story of how their faith plays a role not only on the field but at home.

L’Hakoah (« La force » en hébreu), fut fondé à Vienne en 1909, par réaction au célèbre paragraphe aryen qui interdisait aux clubs de sport autrichiens d’intégrer des athlètes juifs et devint l’un des plus grands clubs de sport de l’Europe de l’entre deux guerres. Dans les années 30, les plus grands succès de l’Hakoah furent remportés par ses nageuses, qui dominaient la compétition nationale en Autriche. Après l’Anschluss, les Nazis ont fait fermer le club. Les nageuses réussirent à fuir le pays avant que la guerre n’éclate, grâce à une opération de sauvetage organisée par les sportifs de l’Hakoah. 65 ans plus tard, 7 membres de l’équipe féminine de natation se retrouvent dans leur ancienne piscine à Vienne, un voyage qui évoque à la fois les souvenirs de leurs jeunes années, leur féminité affirmer et qui leur permet de renouer les liens de toute une vie.

The ball happened to be the one hit by San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds for his record-setting 73rd home run at the end of the 2001 MLB season. When the ball landed in the right-field bleachers at what was then Pac Bell Park (San Francisco), there was a mad scramble for the precious ball, bodies piled up on the walkway above McCovey Cove. Patrick Hayashi, who stood quietly with a sheepish grin on his face as the scrum continued, eventually held the historic ball up for a TV camera to reveal that he had possession of it. MLB and Giants security grabbed Mr. Hayashi and escorted him down to the bowels of the ballpark and authenticated his baseball as the true #73.
