Regalo di Natale (internationally released as Christmas Present) is a 1986 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Pupi Avati. It entered the 43° Venice Film Festival, in which Carlo Delle Piane won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. For his performance in this film Diego Abatantuono won a Nastro d'Argento for Best supporting Actor. The film has a sequel, La rivincita di Natale.

Synopsis

The day before Christmas: a group of friends can be found, as tradition, rich in the house of one of them, for a game of poker. Each of the four men, including a mysterious lawyer, has problems in families, and trying to scrape together a Christmas game in a considerable sum in order to live better. But fate has a special plan for each day players.

Franco, qui a été défait au poker 18 ans plus tôt, est aujourd'hui un grand industriel et producteur de films, et il va avoir la revanche de jeu. Au début, pendant la partie de poker, Franco perd beaucoup d'euros, mais au bout d'un moment, il réussit à marquer beaucoup de points. A la fin du match, ses amis partent vaincus et Franco se rend compte qu'il est resté seul à cause d'un jeu, car il a perdu l'estime de ses camarades.

In Piedmont, the old friends once: Franco, Lele, Stefano and Ugo are reviewing for the Christmas holidays. Franco, who was defeated 18 years before, is now a great industrialist and film producer, and he's going to have the rematch of the game of many years ago. Initially, during the poker game, Franco loses many euros, however after a while, he takes manages to score as many points. Dante est chargé de la diffusion d'un livre d'auteur dont le sujet traite de familles de la noblesse et qui est destiné précisément à celles qui y sont mentionnées, mais il ne trouve que celle du marquis Zanotti. Il entre dans la villa, mais le marquis Ignace, vient de mourir et tous les parents sont à son chevet. Ilaria la fille du marquis s'empresse d'inviter Dante à dîner. Au même moment, l'auteur du livre est tué, les livres brûlés et deux meurtres sont commis dans la villa. Pour démêler l'affaire, la famille fait appel au détective privé Martini dont la première mesure est d'enfermer tout le monde à l'intérieur de la villa, mais les meurtres continuent...
