Synopsis
Opening narration from Gene, a middle-aged American, explains that he has died, entered purgatory, and has been having strange dreams and compulsions. In this afterlife, people slowly take on the characteristics of animals, and Gene's nature is that of a spider. As he drifts aimlessly through Baja, Mexico, where he died while on vacation, he meets a Mexican woman named Ana who can speak no English. Ana, who is taking on the characteristics of a caterpillar, died on the way to meet her boyfriend when her abusive ex-husband attempted to kidnap her. Because he speaks no Spanish, Gene can only understand that she needs help. Grateful to find a purpose, Gene decides to help Ana, unaware of the danger posed by her violent ex-husband, who also died in the botched kidnapping attempt. Along the way, Gene and Ana witness much in the way of strange behavior, and they begin to give in to their own bestial compulsions: Ana begins eating leaves, while Gene becomes obsessed with wrapping everything in web-like rope. Although ashamed at the cannibalistic ramifications, Gene ultimately begins eating corpses he has wrapped in rope. In the end, Gene preys upon and consumes Ana's ex-husband.Actors

After a bank robbery, the responsible gang stops by the home of one of their band's estranged wife to abduct his own young son. The town's old sheriff (Patrick Duffy) calls for the help of a retired gunfighter (Stacy Keach), who is also the abducted boy's grandfather. Hot on the trail of the fugitives, they discover that two bounty hunters are already in pursuit of the gang for crimes committed in Mexico.

News reporter Ichiro Sakai and photographer Junko Nakanishi take pictures of a wreckage caused by a typhoon. They uncover a strange, bluish-gray object in the debris, not knowing its significance. Later that day, a giant egg is discovered on the shore. The local villagers salvage it, and an entrepreneur of Happy Enterprises named Kumayama buys the egg from the local villagers. Instead of letting scientists study the egg, Kumayama wants to make it into a large tourist attraction. Later, Sakai and Nakanishi are informed that the strange object they found is extremely radioactive. (It is later hinted that this is a skin particle from Godzilla.

Stone Alexander is a quiet boy of about 7 years of age, whose mother has just given birth to his younger brother, David. The film begins during the German air raids in London in 1940. An elderly Dr. John Watson tells his nurse the tale of an unrecorded case he shared with his friend Sherlock Holmes. In 1882, Holmes and Watson investigate a ship carrying gold which was reportedly destroyed by a monstrous giant octopus on the coast of Newhaven. They do not believe the first-hand accounts of the sole survivor of the attack, but nonetheless investigate. Holmes is informed by Inspector Lestrade that he has recently had contact with Holmes's estranged brother Thorpe, a former partner of Lestrade's who was paralyzed during a bank robbery seven years prior.
