Delusion (Croatian: Zavaravanje for Pretense or Faking) is a 1998 Croatian crime-drama film directed by Zeljko Senecic.

Synopsis

Joža (Božidar Orešković), a middle-aged professional driver, offers Stella (Sandra Lončarić), a young and attractive prostitute, a ride from Zadar to Zagreb. Joža remembers his traumatic war experiences and his son who returned from combat with a severe disability. Underneath her seemingly cold and calculated demeanor, Stella is also a grieving parent. During the ride, the two develop a special relationship.

The film follows a day in the life of a divorced Zagreb journalist Marko Požgaj (played by Dimitrijević), an average modern intellectual who goes about his daily business. Mundane scenes of Požgaj's day are shown interspersed with flashbacks and fantastic imagery reflecting his inner life. These include his recollections of childhood, his feelings about the present and past, including memories of his first marriage, his current girlfriend Rajka (Jagoda Kaloper) and his father killed in World War II (Pavle Vuisić), as well as his fantasies and hopes about the future.

Deux histoires parallèles qui se déroulent dans une situation de guerre, dans la même ville, mais séparées d'un demi-siècle. La première histoire se déroule en 1993, lors de la guerre en Bosnie-Herzégovine, tandis que l'autre se passe en 1943, en pleine seconde guerre mondiale.
