En Rasavin Manasile is a 1991 Tamil drama film directed by Kasthuri Raja. The film features Rajkiran and Meena in lead roles. The film, produced by Rajkiran, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 13 April 1991. The film had a silver jubilee run and gave a break to Rajkiran and Meena. Vadivelu made his official acting debut with this film. The film was later remade in Telugu as Moratodu Naa Mogudu starring Rajasekhar and Meena reprising her role from the original.

Synopsis

Mayandi (Rajkiran) was a brave villager who was respected by the other villagers. Mayandi was in love with his cousin Solaiyamma (Meena) but Solaiyamma was afraid of him. While Murugesan (Raj Sundar), a city youngster, fell in love with her little sister Kasthuri (Saradha Preetha). Later, Mayandi got married with Solaiyamma and she was still afraid of him. One night, Mayandi came drunk in his house, molested Solaiyamma and raped her. Since this night, Solaiyamma began to avoid Mayandi and she didn't talk with him any more. She became pregnant. Mayandi and Solaiyamma were unable to understand their feelings. Finally, Ponnuthayi (Srividya), Mayandi's adopted mother, brought back them together. Unfortunately, Solaiyamma died after giving birth.

Parijatham (Kushboo) was a famous folk dancer in her village and many rich landlords tried to woo her. Parijatham's mother Pattamma wanted a son-in-law who will let Parijatham dance after the marriage. She finally got married with another folk dancer Palanisamy (Sivakumar). So Kottaisamy and Mala struggled to survive, Mala eventually died during a dance show and Kottaisamy became a drunkard. In the meantime, Palanisamy brought up alone his baby son and Parijatham stopped to dance.

Solaiyamma (Sukanya) is a mother-less woman who is looked after by her father (Vinu Chakravarthy). She has been promised in marriage with her relative Balraj (Rahul) and they are in love. Vaanavaraayan (Rajinikanth) plays the role of a feudal chieftain, adored and respected by his village people. He lives with his grandparents (M. N. Nambiar & Manorama). Following his advice, they abstain from voting in the elections and instead, pool the money given by the candidates to get themselves some basic amenities. Vallavaraayan (Napoleon) is his arch enemy. Their enmity is further sharpened when Vaanavaraayan wins the hand of Vaitheeswari (Meena), whom Vallavaraayan had also wished to wed. So Vallavaraayan convinces the priest at the temple to mix a poison in the holy water that Vaitheeswari drinks. As a result she becomes incapable of conceiving. But surprisingly, Vaitheeswari soon becomes pregnant-though she has pretended with the help of the mid-wife (S. N. Lakshmi), to do so to uphold her husband's honor. She takes poison and kills herself unable to bear the grief of being incapable of giving her husband a child and on her deathbed makes Vaanavarayan swear to take Ponni (Aishwariya) as his wife. Vaanavarayan however refuses until Ponni agrees to marry Sembattai (Thalapathi Dinesh)- Vallavarayan's hechman-who abandons her to Vallavarayan's vice. Infuriated Vaanavarayam attacks Vallavarayam and spares his life after giving him a sermon on how to win the heart of people.
