Add to a movie listLa Chair de l'orchidée (English: The Flesh of the Orchid) is a 1975 film adaptation of the 1948 novel, The Flesh of the Orchid by mystery writer James Hadley Chase, "a pulp-novel sequel to No Orchids for Miss Blandish" (1939). The story was selected by French author Patrice Chéreau, in his directorial debut and already well known for his stage direction, as the subject for his first film.
The film stars Charlotte Rampling, Simone Signoret, Bruno Cremer and Edwige Feuillère.
Synopsis
Claire est la riche héritière d'un père milliardaire qui lui a laissé en mourant toute sa fortune. Sa tante, madame Wegener, veut s’approprier cette fortune. Elle réussit à la faire enfermer dans un hôpital psychiatrique. Claire s’évade et, après un accident de la route, est recueillie par deux hommes, Louis Delage, éleveur de chevaux, et Marcucci.Actors

Born on the day of the death of renowned composer Giuseppe Verdi—27 January 1901—Alfredo Berlinghieri and Olmo Dalcò come from opposite ends of the social spectrum. In a future post-apocalypse Earth in the year 2293, the human population is divided into the immortal "Eternals" and mortal "Brutals". The Brutals live in a wasteland, growing food for the Eternals, who live apart in "the Vortex", leading a luxurious but aimless existence on the grounds of a country estate. The connection between the two groups is through Brutal Exterminators, who kill and terrorize other "Brutals" at the orders of a huge flying stone head called Zardoz, which supplies them with weapons in exchange for the food they collect. Zed (Connery), a Brutal Exterminator, hides aboard Zardoz during one trip, temporarily "killing" its Eternal operator-creator Arthur Frayn (Niall Buggy).

Therpauve Judith, who was "Queen" in the days of the Resistance is asked by his former friends, as she co-owners of the regional newspaper "The Free Republic" to take charge of the daily, is wrong. She quickly realizes that the poor financial health of the newspaper is orchestrated by a businessman who wants to buy it back at a low price. Judith manages to drive up sales, but unfair maneuvers succeed and forced to sell. Little support from his staff, feeling useless and alone, she commits suicide.

Rose Elliot (Miracle), a poet living alone in New York City, finds an ancient book called The Three Mothers. It tells of three evil sisters who rule the world with sorrow, tears, and darkness. The book, written by an architect named Varelli, reveals that the three dwell inside separate homes that had been built for them by the architect in Rome, Freiburg, and New York. Rose suspects that she is living in one of the buildings and writes to her brother Mark (McCloskey) in Rome, urging him to visit her. Using clues provided in the book as a guide, Rose searches the cellar of her building and discovers a hole in the floor which leads to a water-filled ballroom. She accidentally drops her keys and enters the water to find them. After she reclaims the keys, a putrid corpse suddenly rises from the depths, frightening her.

Suzy Bannion, an American ballet student, arrives from her flight in Munich, Germany on a stormy night to enroll in a prestigious dance academy in Freiburg. After Suzy is unable to gain access into the academy, she spends the night in town. Pat Hingle, a student who is expelled from the academy is seen by Suzy leaving and looking frightened. Pat finds refuge at a friend's apartment in town. After she locks herself in the bathroom, a mysterious arm smothers her against the glass. Her friend hears this and tries to scream for help but Pat is repeatedly stabbed and bound with a cord before she is hung in mid-air. Her friend is killed directly below by the falling glass and metal.
