Add to a movie listFlight Command is a 1940 American film about a cocky U.S. Navy pilot who has problems with his new squadron and falls for the wife of his commander. It stars Robert Taylor, Ruth Hussey and Walter Pidgeon. Flight Command has the distinction of often being credited as the first Hollywood film glorifying the American military to be released after the outbreak of World War II in Europe, a year before the U.S. entered the conflict.
Synopsis
Hotshot Ensign Alan Drake (Robert Taylor), fresh from the flying academy at Pensacola, Florida, wants to be accepted by the pilots of an elite service corps, nicknamed the "Hellcats", to which he has been posted. He gets off to a bad start, being forced to ditch his aircraft in heavy fog and mistaking Squadron Commander Billy Gary's (Walter Pidgeon) wife Lorna (Ruth Hussey) as a possible date. She is attracted to the young man, which leads to friction in her relationship with her husband.Actors

During World War I, Diana "Ann" Boyce-Smith (Joan Crawford) is an English girl living on her father's estate in Kent. In 1920s Chicago, Italian immigrant Antonio "Tony" Camonte (Paul Muni) acts on the orders of Italian mafioso John "Johnny" Lovo (Osgood Perkins) and kills "Big" Louis Costillo (Harry J. Vejar), the leading crime boss of the city's South Side. Johnny then takes control of the South Side with Tony as his key lieutenant, selling large amounts of illegal beer to speakeasies and muscling in on bars run by rival outfits. In 1943, Lt Cdr McLain (Scott) has just lost his ship as well as two-thirds of his crew due to enemy action. He is allocated a new ship and while waiting for it to be built, befriends the sister of one of his dead officers. Things become somewhat complicated when one of the replacement officers turns out to be another brother.
