Fools of Fashion est un film muet américain réalisé par James C. McKay, sorti en 1926.

Synopsis

Mary Young, une jeune femme, est invitée par son amie Enid à faire ses courses chez Madame Francine, où elle rencontre la comtesse de Fragni, une artiste, et M. Norris. Mary, persuadée par Enid, achète un manteau de fourrure cher avec de l'argent qu'elle gagne au poker. Elle accepte de poser pour la comtesse, et son mari, Matthew, la trouve là, de façon imprévue, dans une situation compromettante avec Norris. Joe, le mari d'Enid, soupçonne également sa femme d'infidélité et la suit jusqu'à la maison de la comtesse, où Enid tombe du balcon et se tue. Marie se rend à l'appartement de Norris pour empêcher Matthieu de tuer Norris, et après avoir été convaincu qu'il a été peu généreux avec sa femme, il se repent.

Fred Garlan, un industriel prospère, néglige sa femme, Alice, en faveur de ses affaires. À son tour, elle le néglige. En devenant amie avec Esther Hamilton, Alice fait la connaissance de Harrison Morrill, une canaille qui a acheté le corps d'Esther avec un manteau de zibeline. Morrill s'éprend d'Alice et s'arrange pour qu'elle gagne assez d'argent au poker pour acheter son propre manteau de fourrure. Fred croit qu'elle lui a été infidèle et la quitte. Alice décide d'accompagner Morrill à Paris, mais quand elle lit dans le journal que Jim Hamilton a tué Esther puis s'est tué, elle change d'avis. De retour à la maison, elle retrouve Fred qui lui pardonne.

The film opens with Baron Von Burgen's (Reginald Owen) head butler Albert (Paul Lukas) marrying the young maid, Anna (Virginia Bruce), on the Baron's Austrian estate.
