Frivolous Wife is a 2008 South Korean romantic comedy film based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.
Synopsis
Cheon Yeon-soo is a beautiful, hot-headed college girl whose family became millionaires overnight. She was raised by an over-indulgent father and grew up spoiled. Yeon-soo is used to getting any man she wants, but she falls in love with her polar opposite: awkward and polite Lee Jeong-do. Jeong-do is the only grandson of a very traditional family, and Yeon-soo attempts to transform herself into a proper lady so that her future in-laws will accept her. Little does she know that Jeong-do's family actually heads a notorious mob.Actors

In 1593 London, William Shakespeare is a sometime player in the Lord Chamberlain's Men and poor playwright for Philip Henslowe, owner of The Rose Theatre. Shakespeare is working on a new comedy, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter. Suffering from writer's block, he has barely begun the play, but starts auditioning players. Viola de Lesseps, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, who has seen Shakespeare's plays at court, disguises herself as "Thomas Kent" to audition, then runs away. Shakespeare pursues Kent to Viola's house and leaves a note with the nurse, asking Thomas Kent to begin rehearsals at the Rose. He sneaks into the house with the minstrels playing that night at the ball, where her parents are arranging her betrothal to Lord Wessex, an impoverished aristocrat. While dancing with Viola, Shakespeare is struck speechless, and after being forcibly ejected by Wessex, uses Thomas Kent as a go-between to woo her. Wessex also asks Will's name, to which he replies that he is Christopher Marlowe.

In Monte Athena, in the Kingdom of Italy, young lovers Lysander (Dominic West) and Hermia (Anna Friel) are forbidden to marry by her father Egeus (Bernard Hill), who has promised Hermia to Demetrius (Christian Bale). Lysander and Hermia makes plans to flee to the forest to escape the arrangement. Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is a smart-mouthed high school soccer player at Cornwall, which suddenly cuts its girls' team.
