Richard E. Grant (born Richard Grant Esterhuysen;, 5 May 1957) is a Swazi-born English actor, screenwriter, and director. He came to public attention in 1987 for playing Withnail in the film Withnail and I, and achieved international recognition as John Seward in the 1992 blockbuster Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Grant is a teetotaller. He is intolerant to alcohol, having no enzymes in the blood to metabolise it. If he does drink alcohol, he can keep it down for 10 minutes and is then violently sick for 24 hours afterward. After casting him as the alcoholic Withnail, director Bruce Robinson made Grant drink a bottle of champagne and half a bottle of vodka during the course of a night so that he had experience of the sensation.
He also appeared on BBC1's show Saturday Kitchen on 14 July 2007, where he stated he detests dairy products, while his favourite food is giant prawns on a bed of rice. In October 2008, he told The Times that he is an atheist. He is an avid follower of West Ham United, and appeared on Sky Sports' Soccer AM to show his support for the team on the morning of the 2006 FA Cup Final.
In April 2014, Grant launched his new unisex perfume, JACK, exclusively at Liberty of Regent Street. Anya Hindmarch is credited with the conception, Lyn Harris of Miller-Harris helped him create the scent and Perry Haydn Taylor's big fish created the website.

Au début des années 1990, l'auteure Lee Israel peine à renouer avec le succès de ses premiers livres. Sa nouvelle biographie sur Estée Lauder est un véritable échec. Dotée d'un caractère acariâtre et anticonformiste, elle ne fait rien pour s'adapter aux contraintes du monde littéraire et se brouille avec son éditeur. Elle sombre alors dans le syndrome de la page blanche et dans l'alcoolisme. Pressée par le manque d'argent, elle se résigne à vendre une lettre de Katharine Hepburn qu'elle avait encadrée. Elle va alors se découvrir un « don » : imiter à la perfection le style de grands écrivains et autres célébrités. Avec son ami Jack Hock, un homosexuel fantasque, elle monte une arnaque imparable, qui consiste à rédiger de fausses correspondances entre personnalités célèbres. Jack vend ensuite ces fausses lettres à des libraires de Greenwich Village, qui alimentent un marché florissant de collectionneurs passionnés. The film begins with Tyler (Patrick Probst) and little brother Logan (Leo Howard) at the movie theater watching a brand new action film, that Tyler thinks was amazing, while Logan thinks it was bad and had no content. Then Logan tells Tyler about his plans to make a movie. Tyler says that he can make a movie. Then, while looking for actors, and crew workers, he faces rejection from his peers at school and his careless parents at home. Then Logan turns to the one he can always count on- Tyler. But when Tyler gets mad at Logan because of a misunderstanding about losing his jacket for his concert, Tyler tells Logan that the movie was a stupid idea, and that it was so bad he couldn't even finish reading it. He tells Logan, "you're only doing this for the attention anyway. It's not worth it. You're never gonna finish it, Logan". Then, while the parents are out and Tyler is at his band concert, Logan does what Tyler never thought he would- he tries to hang himself. Tyler comes up after getting angry at his orchestra leader, he looks all over the house trying to find Logan- and when he does, he is hanging from a tree in the backyard. Logan lives but if Tyler was two minutes late, he would have been brain dead. Although Tyler tries to get through the tragedy with the help of his friends, Ben (Booboo Stewart) and Carlie (Nicole Cummins), he just cannot. At the turn of the unexpected tragedy, the brothers' relationship is altered forever and Tyler is challenged to do whatever it takes to see his little brother's project succeed, even if that means risking it all.
