Idhayathai Thirudathe is a 1989 Tamil, romance film written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The soundtrack is composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Upon release, the film met with both commercial success and critical acclaim. The film released in 1989 along with a dubbed version in Telugu language titled Geethanjali (1989 film). The film was later dubbed in Malayalam. The film was remade in Hindi as Yaad Rakhegi Duniya starring Aditya Pancholi, Rukhsar and Vikram Gokhale. The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and seven Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards.

Prakash (Akkineni Nagarjuna), a carefree, mischievous student graduates from College. During his celebration with his friends, he gets into a road accident. Although the accident is only minor, during medical tests, he is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has few months left. Unable to hear his mother's constant crying, he packs his bags and leaves to his family's vacation home in Ooty for a few weeks.
