Ghost Catchers is a 1944 American comedy horror film. Ole Olson and Chic Johnson are nightclub owners, helping their neighbors rid an old house of ghosts. Their club's headwaiter Jerry (Leo Carrillo) is really a gangster trying to scare off the tenants in the house so he can steal a stash of aged liquor from the basement.

La comédie et le film traitent, sur un mode burlesque, des us et coutumes des milieux du spectacle, du théâtre et du cinéma. Ole (Ole Olsen) et Chic (Chic Johnson) ont entrepris de tourner un film mais le producteur impose un coscénariste, Jeff. Ce dernier est amoureux de Kitty, future très riche héritière convoitée par Woody, un jeune homme fortuné. Parallèlement, Betty, la sœur de Chic, s'est éprise d'un prétendu aristocrate russe, un soi-disant comte qui est en fait un vrai prince russe mais se fait passer pour un aventurier. Quimby, un détective, vient se mêler aux divers quiproquos et en provoquer.

Mrs. Murphy's Theatrical Boarding House is a place where young performers reside. A group of those young people try to escape after finding out they are unable to pay the rent. However they get caught by the landlady and fellow tenant Marvo the Great is forced to sell his clothes to pay the rent. They next set out to the radio network WECA to visit singer Anne Payne. Anne is a former boarding house member who now works at the radio station with the Andrews Sisters and Woody Herman and His Orchestra. When Marvo is later conversing with Anne at her apartment, her wealthy neighbour Sue Courtney drops in their conversation and wonders if she can join the group.

The film starts out with a futuristic Nomad from the year 3069 who accidentally discovers the book "Helter Skelter" while searching for food in a desert on the former site of Los Angeles. He mistakes the book as the Bible, and reads it as if Charles Hanson (most of the character names are derived from real people involved with the Manson murders, with their names altered by changing a letter into an 'H') is the messiah. As he reads, we flash back to 1969 where Susan Hatkins meets Charlie during a bad LSD trip. Charlie then renames her Hadie and she is accepted into his family where they plan things to change the world, and make music. After finding out that the snobby, nature hating actress Sharon Hate is supposed to be filming a movie in the desert where they are living, Charlie and the family plot to kill her. Charlie claims to get messages through songs, such as I Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles, which tell him to kill Sharon Hate.
